Everything about this film is perfect, from the acting to the direction to the storyline. The photography/cinematography in this film is breathtaking and colorful. Leonardo Dicaprio shows a range of emotions from love and regret to fear and desperation. Michelle Williams is spot on as his wife appearing in dream sequences throughout the film. The thin line between insanity and reality/normalcy is crossed over repeatedly throughout the film. Very thought provoking-just what we deserve in a movie!
Thoughtful portrayal of W from youth, struggles against father's high expectations. Looks happiest when working on ranch. One can feel empathy for W, until recalling circumstances of gaining the positions he has held/now holds. Links wars to presumptions of WMDs & thirst for presence in oil-rich lands. Misguided philsophies fed to a gullible man who wants respect for his own efforts, while he often appears inept at knowing what his own opinions are. The all or nothing way of seeing things affected our country deeply, demonstrated in his staff members' discomfort at the actions & directions taken for war. Portrayals of Barbara Bush and Condolezza Rice are shallow and insulting to 2 persons of notable character.
