Splurge for IMAX 3D...

I walked out of the theater a bit disappointed at how dull the real world looked. Seriously. Not to sound hyperbolic, but this was quite possibly the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Definitely the best cinematic experience I've ever had.
During the initial and subsequent screenings, the experience was not interrupted by gaps in the CGI. At no time did I find myself unconvinced. It was fully immersive.
That said, I can't imagine seeing Avatar in any other format than IMAX 3D. In fact, if you do manage to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity, or see it on a regular screen, you should probably just gouge out your eyes, because it would appear you aren't using them to their fullest capability anyway.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
