This movie will tear you but it will make you appreciate life. I had not been moved like this by a movie in a long time. The rest of the audience must have felt the same because no one in the whole theater left until the credits had ended. Don't miss it but be prepared to be shaken.
Thank goodness for these reviews. I'd have missed this great movie if I had followed the critics reviews. Luckily, I read the on line reviews on this site, and I had a great time. It's a really action packed movie. Keeps you interested all the time, and it's not so complicated that you lose track of the story/. The humor is pretty well timed. The special effects are pretty cool. If you don't like exploding cars and chases and lots of action, don't bother. Otherwise, it's a must see flick.
I simply loved the movie. It made me laugh and cry. The metamorphosis of Ricky Gervais' character was well developed. I felt that Tea Leoni needs to work more in her delivery. She was the most unbelievable character in the movie (and we are talking about her against GHOSTS!). But still you come out laughing and feeling good (and that's what I look for in a good comedy). Everyone in the theater seemed to enjoy it as much as I did and I am not even a fan of Gervais. Don't look for any depth in the characters, luckily they don't try to give us psychological studies. It's light, it's funnny, it's entertaining.
If you want a movie that will keep you interested, if you enjoy rooting for the underdog, if you appreciate realistic characters, then you will enjoy this movie. Greg Kinnear did a wonderful job with his role. And the movie doesn't drag or dwell in irrelevant details. Catch it now, catch it on DVD, just don't miss it.
