Jeff Bridges mumbles, stumbles and bumbles
( thanks Chris Berman) playing Rooster, Matt Damon's just fair, Hailee Steinfeld is wonderful
and the movie overall is a darned good westen
BUT Puhleez, this classic movie starring the Duke should never have been remade. Ending is lousy. Jeff Bridges for Best Actor ?? Oh come on ! John Wayne is and will always be THE
Rooster Cogburn ! Worth seeing though.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Good but Not Great

Although Diane Lane's perforance was terrific,
as a lifelong horseracing fan, I was disappointed in the movie.
It was too "Disney"....the horseracing scenes of Secretariat were so obviously staged and the behaviour of the other jockeys was so unreal and phony, it comes across as a good "made for tv" movie. I didn't like Malkivich's portrayal of trainer Lucien Lauren. The calls of the races were poor...they should have had Trevor Denman
from Santa Anita do them.
In a nutshell....good movie for the Hallmark Channel....sorry.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
