I'm just going to assume that you're reading this because you like big explody movies and you want to know if this is a good one. It is!
One of the reasons we fell in love with the first movie was that we also loved the characters. They've taken the time to add a little growth to the characters, without changing them too much. Surprisingly (and not a spoiler, since you can see her name in the credits), falling in love with the main character doesn't get you killed in this franchise! I find that refreshing.
I was also impressed with the effects - mostly because they're used sparingly. Knowing when to use slo-mo is fine, knowing when to quit is awesome. There's blood when people die, but it's not splashed all over the place merely for shock value. Almost NO "shaky cam", hooray!
My favorite part has to be the car stunts. I'm going to HOPE that you're also the type of person that doesn't go see big explody movies and spend the whole time muttering "that would never work in real life". Of course not. But we go see action flicks to get away from reality for a while, and live in a world where bad people get what we feel they deserve.
While the lack of Karl Urban made me sad, the addition of Byung-hun Lee MORE than made up for it! This is the first time I've seen him (no, I haven't see either GI Joe movie yet), but I'm not surprised that he's a huge star in his native S. Korea. I'm looking forward to seeing a LOT more of him. Although, you do get to see quite a bit of him in one scene in this movie ... yum!
The story itself managed to keep me interested as well. It's a standard action plot with twists; you can see most of them coming, but it's not so predictable that you feel like you should have just waited for it to come out on DVD.
Go see it!
Pros well paced, great actors

My son's now 20, so I hadn't seen these movies in forever! I'd forgotten how funny, sweet, and downright GREAT they are! The movies weren't originally made for 3D so there aren't a lot of scenes that "pop", but the picture does have an added dimension that improved the visual quality. Don't go expecting to see something new - go to share old memories and create new ones, and just to have a really great time at the movies!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
