wasn't expecting much. as a fan of lee byung-hun (storm shadow), i wasn't happy this was his intro to american films. lee is the pitt/dicaprio of korean/asian film scene so the idea of him in an 'u.s.' action film had me upset. after seeing an interview he gave, i decided to see it. i was pleasantly surprised. script wasn't perfect but it wasn't bad; same goes for the acting. ending was a little corny but set up for the slated sequels. was especially surprised by joseph gordon-levitt. as for lee as storm, i am pleased. the intensity he displays in his dramas was well used. also for someone who has never handled a sword in his life, lee did very well indeed. kudos to stephen sommers for doing a great job!!!
the chemistry between pine (kirk), quinto (spock), and urban (mccoy) is phenomenal. thanks to the actors, writers, and abrams direction, all of the new trek performances are original while still true to the characters' spirits w/o being imitations. i will be seeing this again b/f it comes out of boxoffice.
