The prize goes to John del Carlo for a great acting and singing performance as don Pasquale. The singing wasoutstanding. All the ensembles were masterfully done. Thoroughly enjoyable production.
It's not often that you can experience two great baritone voices in one prouction. Domingo proved once again what a versital performer he is. He was in great baritone voice mode. The entire production was an opulence of costumes and scenery. Way to go Met.
This was a lavish production. The costumes and the stage sets were magnicicient. .It's hard to imagine anyone other than Susan Graham in the role of Octavian. Renee Flemming as the Marschallin was superb. This was my first encounter with the Islandic baritone Kristinn Sigmundsson. His interpretation of Baron Ochs thoroughly enjoyable. I give this production 5 stars
