What a great revival! If you're a fan of the original (as I am) you'd think it would be hard to measure up but Dezel and John Travolta pulled it off! Travolta played a deliciously wicked villian while Denzel displayed his usual swagger as a civil servant of questionable character who was in the wrong darn place at the wrong darn time. It was refreshing to see snippets of my beloved NYC interspersed w/new technology and some humorous moments. Go see it.
I call this a sleeper movie because Perry's films usually appeal only to a certain type of audience. Not so this time! The cast is superb with talent from many areas. The theme is a universal one "you get what you pay for" or "do unto others..." What's consistently great about Perry's films is that his Christian values are never overshadowed by a comedic or dramatic plot. Another great job!
