Definitely worth seeing, but earlier reviews led me to expect a sweet love story. Should have listened to the guy who said "some scenes are hard to watch." Yes it's a love story and yes, Jamal's character is admirable. But it's India and these kids are poor in a way we'll never know here. See it like you saw Schindlers List, because we shouldn't close our eyes to some of the stuff that happens in this world even if it is hard to watch.
Sigh . . . another flick for which we've seen the best bits in the previews. This one has funny moments, but it's just not that funny overall. The problem is mostly the script. The cast does what they can with it. Brad Pitt is great -- his physical comedy elevates a trite character. John Malkovich is perfectly cast, but the character is just annoying. The worst role went to Geroge Clooney, who can be very funny but does not get the chance here. There are little character bits that are totally irrelevant, like his obsession with wood floors. What's the point of that? The women's roles are also blah. A disappointment.
