Disappointing. A lot of noise and cutesy focus on the young versions of well known characters but frankly I fell asleep towards the end. Definitely not worth the $15 IMAX admission price.
The production, the music and the singers were all marvelous. There were numerous heartbreaking problems with the sound system however. I don't know if these problems were on the Metropolitan Opera side or the theater where I saw it (Patriot Cinemas, Foxborough, MA). Similar problems occurred when I saw a rebroadcast of another HD opera, La Damnation of Faust, at a theater in Swansea, MA. I want to take other people to the rebroadcast of La Rondine, it was that spectacular, but I am afraid that the same technical problems will be in evidence.
