This is one these films I go to expecting to really like, and turns out to be somewhat of a letdown. I had wondered if the book could be successfully screenplayed, and it fell a bit short of the mark. Some effects of film were fascinating, such as the flying, the baseball game, and the battle scene. (good old ILM...you can't beat 'em with a lightsaber) The first kiss scene sizzled quite admirably. Fortunately ,these scenes somewhat rescue the film. Unfortunately, there a kind of hollow feel to some of the performances, and the uneven, compressed storyline strains credibility, particularly how rapidly the two leads move to "together forever" mode.
Even so, I'm into vampires, and would likely recommend the film to any vampire lovers.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
