I've only seen "Saw 1" and that was enough for me. All this talk about this film being similar to those movies had me worried, but it looked interesting. Actually, it wasn't bad. After about a third of the movie, there's very little dialogue, which added to the suspense of the movie, giving it at times an Alfred Hitchcock-on-steroids type feeling. I liked the lead actor, and the violence scenes were intense. It's worth the time if you like this sort of movie.
WOW! What a surprise this movie was. I figured it would be the typical "bad kid terrorizing her new family" movie, but it's MUCH more. Both the husband and wife have problems they're dealing with from their individual pasts, and they play into how they interact with each other and the new addition to the family. There's a lot of suspense, a bit of humor, some murder (of course), and an excellent twist about the girl that you never see coming. Highly recommended.
OH MY GOD!!! Even though I'm not a big Jack Black fan, some of the trailers looked kinda funny, so I figured I'd give this movie a shot. I should have gone and had a root canal instead. The only slightly funny part was about the last 15 minutes. This movie needed more action, slapstick, sight gags, etc. It's supposed to be about "The Year One", yet they're speaking in today's vernacular, and not even trying to make it look authentic. It's so slow you won't need a watch to time it, a calendar will be more like it. Stay home and watch reruns of Leave It To Beaver. You'll be glad you did.
This is a really funny, charming, & heart-warming movie. There's a LOT of chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, and they make a great couple in the movie. This was my first Sandra Bullock movie, and I guess I'm going to have to check out some of her others now...she was enchanting. Reynolds is a great comedic actor, and has some of the best facial expressions in the movie business. If you like romantic comedies, this one is well worth your time.
This is a remake of one of my all-time favorite movies. The plot remained the same, but with some different twists throughout the movie, such as the undercover cop. I enjoyed John Travolta's character more than I did Denzel's, but of course Denzel delivered his usual solid and entertaining role as Garber. For those of you that have never seen the original, PLEASE take the time to see it. Of course it's oldschool, so there's not as much profanity, and the car crashes are more spectacular, but the humor that Walter Matthau adds to the Garber character and that CLASSIC final look at Martin Balsam makes that version worth the time.
Well, this movie was just what I thought it would be. There are definitely some scary moments in it. There's some humor, actually quite a bit of it, and good effects. There are also plenty of "yuck" and "ewww" moments. lol The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the lead actress. She was one-dimensional and barely changed her expression from the first scene to the last. Other than that, I would definitely recommend the movie. Very entertaining.
Going by the trailers, I thought this was going to be a comedy, which is the main reason I went to see it. There are some comedic elements in the movie, but this would have worked just as well as an action/drama with comedic overtones. As an African-American I usually stay away from the "Black" movies because of the flagrant stereotypes, but there really wasn't much of that, thankfully. It could have worked with any ethnicity. If you're planning on seeing this because you're a Mos Def fan, don't blink your eyes, or you won't see his two scenes in the movie. The end of the movie comes out of nowhere, so be ready for it. Overall not a bad movie, but I definitely think it could have been much better.
Ok, first, I'm not a Jason Statham fan, and I haven't seen any of the Tranporter movies and didn't even see Crank 1. But the trailers for this one made me want to see it. This movie was fast-paced, and OVER-THE-TOP funny. But the absolute best thing in the movie was the girl that was chasing him through the movie because he saved her life. YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE THIS MOVIE, IF ONLY TO SEE HER LOL If there's an award for best comedic performance in a movie, I would give it to her hands down. The only bad thing about the movie was the ending. I thought they could have come up with something better. Otherwise, I loved it.
Anyone that says this movie is bad, poorly done, uninteresting, lacked substance, etc, etc, etc, is out of their mind. I love Ed Harris, always have and always will. This movie was fantastic! Viggo Mortensen stole every scene he was in. He was a calmer, more level headed deputy than Ben Foster's Charlie Prince in 3:10 To Yuma, but played the role with the same intensity and blind devotion. Ed Harris was his usual tough-guy self, but with a heart. Any man that has fallen for the wrong woman at one time or another will understand his character. I would recommend this movie to EVERYONE.
