There was nary a week link to be found, which in and of itself is quite remarkable because there are so many places they could be. This was a production/performance which rose to the highest levels, befitting of the genius, creativity and magic of Mozart. Kudos!
Pros great actors, great singers, great sets, great costumes, great lighting, great sound., great cinematography., great conductor and orchestra., ... need i go on?
Yes, I recommend this movie.

During the intermision I said to my friend, "For the life of me, I have no clue as to what they are talking about." There was no element of the opera that came near anything that I have seen or heard before in an opera production. Nothing.
But wait, I'm glad The Met is investing its resourcces in operas such as The Tempest, because there are people who actually understand the music and enjoy this sort of stuff. It's important that the Met thinks outside the box and is willing to take risks, and they need to keep doing it.
I must admit that I'd had enough when I left at the intermission.

Money Well Spent!

I have made significant provision for the Met Opera in my trust estate, and when I see a production like this where all the major elements of operatic theater have come together so fantisically, my only thought is, "Money well spent!" If I can do some little bit (in the grand scheme of things) that will allow the Met to keep on bringing productions like this one to music lovers to come, then I will have done my part to give back to the Met for the many, many wonderful years of opera enjoyment that have been so much a part of my life over the years, beginning with Milton Cross and the Saturday Afternoon Broadcasts. Anyone feeling the way I do should visit the Met's website and search for "Encore Society."
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not my cup of tea. Even if I knew a lot about music, I don't think I could share the enthusiasm and excitement others have shown through their comments on this site. I just plain don't get it. I LOVE opera, and I've listened to lots of it, starting with the Saturday afternoon broadcasts way back when. It's only the second opera I've ever gotten up and left before the end.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
