This movie was a cute, but predictable romantic-action-comedy - - and there-in lies the problem. Not quite enough romance for a romance; not quite enough action for the adrenaline seekers; and not enough comedy (or good belly-laugh comedy) for a true comedy.
This is a tough combination to get right, and the perfect case of a 5-star example is the James Cameron movie True Lies.
You'll enjoy this film when it comes out on DVD to rent. But no need to buy and no need to see on the big screen.
Watchmen the movie is not for everyone. But if you're a fan of the comic, you're likely to be happy.
Graphic violence makes the movie not for the squeamish, and in places its gratuitous nature could have been avoided without loss. The director, though, clearly wanted to remain as faithful to the graphic novel as celluloid would let him.
Good character development recreates the character we've experienced in the novel, but the screenplay lacks the depth of plot that drove the story - - it feels slightly shallow. Newbies might find themselves lost.
Still, a good movie that's certainly worth a view if you're a comic fan or if your tastes run to science fiction along the lines of Alien or Predator.
