Of all the Live in HD operas broadcast by the Met, this was one of my favorites. Great music, excellent performances and terrific staging. I went to see it twice (live and encore).
A wonderful production of The Magic Flute. We loved Julie Taymor's costumes. The puppets were awesome. Wonderful singing, gorgeous music (but too loud--we had to plug our ears).
Wonderul performances from Juan Diego Florez & the entire cast. However, at our theatre in Emeryville, CA, the screen was very dim throughout the opera. We learned afterwards that 2 bulbs were burned out in the theatre's projector. Also, the screen suddently went completely dark during the last few minutes and during the curtain calls and credits. The theatre gave us a re-admit pass to see a future movie.
Excellent production. Elina Garanca was fabulous as Cinderella. What a voice! The sisters and male performers were also terrific. This is not my favorite opera -- too repetitious, but the production was wonderful.
Georgeous music and beautiful performances from the entire cast. I had seen other productions of this opera and initially thought I would not see this one, but decided to go after reading the review in the NY TImes. I'm so glad I didn't miss it! The staging is spare but effective, and haunting.
Marvelous opera and excellent cast. The breaks are too long for this encore performance. The second break could have been cut to 10 minutes and the second interview with Anna Netrebko could have been eliminated.
Beautiful music, great singing and sensational special effects. The principal soloists, chorus and orchestra were all terrific. If you missed it, try to see the encore performance on Dec. 3 at 7 pm.
