Extraordinary performance, and wonderfully well enjoyed on the big HD screen. Fleming and Blythe were predictably excellent, and the two countertenors were, for me, a delight and a surprise. Baroque isn't my favorite flavor of Opera, but this one was so well-acted that I and my companion loved it. The backstage interviews by Deborah Voigt added greatly to the experience.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Extraordinary Opera experience. The music is sublime; pacing is rapid and suspenseful even if you know the ending; voices are perfect for the roles and the cohesion of the cast is evident. Every role was delineated to perfection, from the seductive Don Giovanni, Leporello's sympathetic character, Elvira with all her troubled rage; Anna's intelligence, and Zerlina's charming innocence. Not the same thing as being in the house seeing it live, but equally pleasing for the close-ups and the intermission interviews. If one tried to find something imperfect, one could say the set seemed to lack imagination, but nothing could detract from the brilliance of the performance done in its traditional style.
