This is the best of the MIB movies...but this has always been a franchise that has been once notch below a lot of its competition...This is the only one of the MIB films that has any touch of heart to it, and the story is fun. There are fewer creatures here than past movies, but is a lightyear better than the terrible MIB 2...A good diverting couple of hours at the movies -- still, you will leave the theater feeling a bit like there was a scene or two missing....
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Super rewrite of the show

This is a super re-write of a problematic piece -- ALW's score is superb, one of his best, but the storyline is problematic -- this Australian re-write seems to have fixed most of the problems, and the ending now works quite well.
The cinematography here is lush and gorgeous -- the colors fantastic, the sound superb. This was a great night at the movies to see this very good ALW musical.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Superb

This is a superb fight movie -- and like all fight movies, it plays the background for the real drama, which in this case, is the splintered family dynamics of an alcoholic father (Nick Nolte) and his two sons (Tom Hardy) who chose to protect his mother and (Joel Edgerton) who chose to stay with dad until things fell apart. Through a series of circumstances they meet in the ultimate MMA fight. The story is fictional, and yet it plays out as if it were real. The acting is top notch and the fight sequences are very well done. But what makes this really top-notch is the mini-dramas which dizzle from beginning to end. Tom Hardy's abs have an acting life of their own. Joel Edgerton (a very well known Australian actor) here makes his first mainstream US film, and is a name to be remembered. Warrior, by far one of the best movies of the year, is sure to be recognized come Oscar time.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Solid Dramatic Rom Com for Adults

This is a solid dramatic romantic comedy geared toward adults over the age of say, 30...you have to have enough life experience to recognize what is going on here on a deeper more emotional level -- I suspect that kids are going to hate this movie (i.e the 21 and under crowd)....
Hathaway and Sturgess are superb in the film, which is good since they are on screen 100 percent of the picture....
I've already recommended this to several of my (in their 50's) friends...
It's schmaltzy and manipulative - and I loved it...
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Superb taped live performance

This is a superb tape of the live stage performance of Broadway's MEMPHIS...I have seen the show twice in NYC, and it looks spectacular on this tape -- but what makes it even better is the video directors keen sense of understanding the show -- facial expressions are never lost, and even fine details are preserved in both leads and ensemble.
My one complaint -- some of the clever stage transitions are lost while the camera focuses on the leads faces rather than the "big picture" at times -- as a result - you lose the movement of the set pieces, the swiveling of the columns to surprise the audience with different things inside, the scrolling newspaper text during the second act on the side columns, etc....
It's a minor quibble, and points out the limitations of film vs live performance,
The production of MEMPHIS itself is remarkable -- the original cast perform their roles very well; and the ensemble is clearly composed of their A-list inclucing the best swings and alternates for this taped performance.
Super entertainment. Hope it comes out of DVD one day, and hopefully those who saw it across America will purchase tickets to see the tour this fall.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Awful

Unlike either of the other two movies -- skip this, and if you absolutely must, see it on DVD when it is released -- otherwise, there is nothing here to warrant a night at the movies -- and a tremendous waste of top notch talent.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
