As always, the book was better. However, it stayed pretty true to the story. My biggest gripe most times is casting -- characters never look like what I imagine them when reading -- but I thought casting of Bella was perfect, and most of the rest were also very well cast. I was midly distracted at first by the casting of Edward, Carlisle and Charlie, but they grew on me. The story just gets better from here, so can't wait for the next installments.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
