Many hours of things blowing up

My boys (ages 17, 14, 11) liked, but did not love this movie and they couldn't wait to see it. I regretted not staying home with a good book. Although I found some of the psychological themes intriguing and compelling, the length of the movie and the relentless violence made it less than enjoyable for me. If you enjoy seeing lots of things blow up and watching bad guys menace and threaten innocent people this is a movie you will like - these scenes dominate and overwhelm the interesting theme throughout the movie of Batman's moral and personal struggle with the weight of his role in Gotham and also take away from the potential visual interest of the film.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
