The folks at Pixar deserve a lot of credit for continually putting forth such great family films. Furthermore, they deserve great acclaim for performing the rarest of feats in making a sequel that transcends its predecessors. Toy Story 3 is a near-perfect movie, and the fact that is is suitable for all ages is such a huge bonus. I cannot recommend this film highly enough.
A very well done prequel that fleshes out the history of Vamps and Lycans previously discussed in the first two movies. The action is a little too fast and furious to follow sometimes, but solid acting and the Romeo and Juliet style tragedy easily overcome any directorial weaknesses. And it doesn't hurt that Rhona Mitra is an absolute beauty to look at whenever she is on screen.
A beautifully animated film with plenty of action to keep young ones interested and an excellent moral lesson as icing on the cake. Good fun for the whole family.
HSM3 is a near perfect family film. Sure it is a little goofy to the cynics in all of us, but if you let yourself go with the film, you will be very impressed with the music, dancing, and acting. These folks definitely care about putting forth a quality family product, and it shows. And with a projected gross of $150 million domestic, look for HSM 4: The College Years very soon!
Just like all the latest STAR WARS related product, this movie is best when there is no talking and everyone is just fighting. When the fighting stops, and the talking begins, the movie drags you down like a cannonball chained to your ankle. And Zero the Hutt (Jabba's brother?) is just awful. As bad a character as Jar Jar, imho. Wait for the DVD and just skip past the talking parts...and the Zero parts.
90 minutes into THE DARK KNIGHT I was ready to proclaim it the best movie ever. However, the movie had another 60 minutes to go. And in that 60 minutes, the movie went from great to borderline good. The Joker was a great villain, and was quite sufficient for this movie. Alas, the writers felt they needed to introduce another bad guy, which led to a drawn out ending and a watered down climax.
Definitely see this movie on the big screen, but savor the first 90 minutes as it is pretty much all down hill from there.
