By the time this movie reached day two, I began to fear that it was literally 127 hours long. The nature of the story is compelling because it's true, but watching someone hack his arm off does not art make. Boring, unimaginative and manipulating pretty much sums it up. It's not really worth writing about - this movie couldn't make a wave in a bathtub.

Even though I knew how it ended before I got there, I was on the edge of my seat. James Franco's acting was incredible, as always.At one point it seemed to be a little slow, but it picked right back up. If that's my only issue with the movie, then it's still a great one in my book!

I personally loved this movie. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you want more. Many people think it's boring because it's 90 minutes capturing the main character on camera in the same place. Well, it's not boring at all. The movie went by fast and I enjoyed every minute of it. For the amputation scene, it's not as bad as you may think it is. Yes, it's quite gory, but not that gruesome for you to faint. If you feel lightheaded, just close your eyes. Take deep breaths as you are watching the scene. Don't let it affect you from going to watch the movie. The movie is still worth watching even if there is a bloody scene. Danny Boyle did a wonderful job directing the movie once again and it will probably cost him an Oscar. For performances, all the supporting actors gave decent performances even if they were only in the movie for the first 10 minutes. In the meantime, James Franco gave a tour-de-force performance which should definitely cost him an Oscar as well. In my opinion, 127 Hours is a visceral thrilling movie that takes you on a journey beyond your imagination and proves to you what we can do when we choose life. I highly recommend watching this movie! :)

Watching a guy who cannot move for close to two hours. Hmm. Sounds pretty dull.
It's anything but. Gripping and tense throughout. I was sweating towards the end and my heart was beating through my shirt.
Franco is a must for a best actor nomination and so far I think he should win it. This should garner one of the 10 best pix noms too.

We saw this movie last night and, although it was hard to watch at times, it was excellent. James Franco carried the whole movie on his own and did a fantastic job. This could have been a really boring movie about one man alone for five days, but Danny Boyle's vision and James Franco's performance kept us riveted the whole time.
Definitely recommended for anyone but the squeamish!

I really enjoyed this movie. James Franco played an excellent part, and the scenery was breath taking. Since it is an INDY It is not playing in many theaters so a lot of people will miss out on a well written, acted, and photograph movie of the year.

Extremely Powerful. Extremely well acted by James Franco. Extremely well directed by Danny Boyle. Extremely hard to watch but well worth it. Its been an hour since I left the theater and my heart is still racing. This is a tour de force story of a young man who loves to explore, rock climb, and push his limits against nature. It tells the tale of a journey gone horribly wrong in every way and how sometimes all of your ingenuity alone is not enough, and you have to fall back on your resolve to survive. James Franco shows his range as he goes through all the emotions of a trapped man who realizes he probably won't get out alive. His performance is Oscar worthy. This is an amazing film but definitely not for the squeemish. Be prepared, just as the real man he portrays, Aron Ralston (who makes a nice curtain call) was. Highly recommended.

If I could give it 4.5 I would. Better than good, but not excellent. They did a great job of telling the story. A parent sitting in the row below me brought his 8 or 9 year old kid...I watched the kid close his eyes and cover his ears in one of the scenes.

I’m trying to understand a outdoors guy who works in a sport/outdoor store goes up to the rocky canyons for a fun day. He takes a crappy knife, no hammer, doesn’t tell anyone, no cell/radio/gps, no flare, hardly any food, and he jumps into a crack of a mountain that’s only 3 feet wide. What is this a Homer Simpson outdoor trip? This guy is supposed to be a pro. He should have just gone to the 99cents store to buy his gear. James Franco played this role fantastically. But it is still an arrogant pro outdoor guy who poorly planned his trip and paid for it. Stories based on poor planning don’t get Oscar Nods. If you’re into an arm decap feel free to watch this film. WARNING IF YOUR SQUEAMISH ABOUT BLOOD DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE. THE SCENE IS WHEN HE’S GOT NO ALTERNATIVE AND THAT PART KINDA SNEAKS UP QUICKLY SO KEEP AN EYE FOR IT. 3 stars out of 5

Great film. While climbing in a canyon a young man is trapped by a falling rock that pins his arm to the cave wall leaving him unable to escape his predicament. After 5 days of struggling and running out of water his only hope of getting out is to leave his arm behind. This film was well choreographed and the camera work was wonderful. Good acting by Franco. The film is a wonderful analogy about appreciating what we have but to move forward we sometimes have to leave something behind.

James Franco was brilliant and story is inspirational. Though plot was minimal (it's about a man stuck underneath a rock), the character and cinematography were great. As others have stated, it's as if you're next to Aron for the complete movie and it really becomes a "Man vs Wild" environment. What would a person do in a life or death situation? That's what makes this true story so great.

Reckless and irresponsible young man falls and becomes trapped in a crevice, after having told no one where he went.
Since there is not much of a plot, in order to attempt to gain interest, the movie resorts to flashbacks and clever camera tricks to show basic action, e.g. slow motion view inside the water bottle as he drinks.
I found the movie rather boring, and the character uninspiring, despite the good performance by James Franco.

'127 Hours' is a decent movie, but lacks a strong plot. The movie mostly centers around a guy being stuck in a crevice. There is not much plot development before he gets stuck, and only vague references to his life through a series of short flashbacks. It would have been so much better if there were more background development about his life before he got stuck. Nevertheless, it was entertaining w/good cinematography but kind of a disappointment when you think of how much better it could have been. I recommend seeing this movie, but I'd wait till it comes out on DVD.

This movie is great, and the story is known, but James Francos portrayal of the real life adrenaline seeker is powerful and you feel what this person was feeling during the whole movie. You really feel like you were living it along with him. Great movie. If you are a bit squeamish then there are some points you will want to turn away, but this movie is great and you come out with a feeling and appreciation for life that this guy was feeling.

So good to watch an excellent film maker, Danny Boyle creating such a wonderful depiction of the pain of being trapped and the the triumph of the human spirit. I thought when my wife said she wanted to see this movie that it had the potential to be boring - a guy stuck for 127 hours in a cave - but this is so well crafted and well done

James Franco has received accolades for playing stoners and this time he achieves his greatest success playing a hiker trapped by a stone - in the movie "127 Hours". James Franco is absolutely perfect in this role and I have a new found respect for his acting chops. No more excuses Mr. Franco - we expect to see many more performances from you that showcase the A+ talent that we all now know you have! Director Danny Boyle also shows his amazing range and talents coming off of Slumdog Millionaire where he uses a cast of thousands to this movie which basically has a cast of one (yes - there is a sprinkling of a few other actors - but 98% of this move is Franco and Franco alone). Boyle sets the stage perfectly and pulls us along for the ride as the trapped hiker realizes his dilemma. We feel the isolation, the desperation, the regrets, the panic, the daydreams and night dreams and at long last the horror and triumph in overcoming an impossible situation! Great cinematography, sound work, split screens, acting, music, dialogue, script and pacing! Easily makes TheMovieRhino's Top 10 for 2010! This one is a "don't miss"!

A break through performance by Franco and a screenplay that told the story as it happened. Although tough to watch at times, the movie should inspire every person in the theater.
