Before I comment on the movie itself, I want to take a minute to say that whomever came up with the lame idea to show 3D commercials and previews before the movie starts, should be reprimanded. Since this isn't a 3D movie, it just makes for a blurry and oddly colored pre-movie show, and no one even has the glasses. Halfway through, I had to close my eyes because it was giving me a major headache. Shame on you guys!
The movie itself was much darker and adult-oriented then previous HP movies, but also gave a great sense of how desperate things are. I loved the seriousness and was very impressed at how much the acting has improved for the cast. This movie also dishes out quite a bit more lore from the past of the characters, which really is a nice change. Over all, it's definitely the best HP yet, go see it!

I have read all the Harry Potter books and have seen all the movies thus far. This movie was very well done. I enjoyed it very much. Seeing it in an IMAX theater made this experience even better.

Darker, slower, more mature, suspensful...all leading up to the last and final movie. The Dobby character was truly touching and endearing towards the end. Since this didn't take place at all at Hogwarts, it has a different feel to it, so just be prepared for that (for people like me who haven't read the books)!

Definitely the best of the Harry Potter movies so far! This is a really great adaptation of the book and the editing works really well. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who has read the books or seen the other movies! Can't wait to see Part 2 in July!

The Harry Potter movies get better and better! I read the books so long ago, and I remembered the overall plots, but I forgot a lot of the details in between. As I'm watching this movie on the awesome IMAX screen, I'm remembering all these little details, which are coming back to me as I just read the book yesterday. So I'd say for a movie to be able to do that is extremely well done!! Perfect spot to end Part 1 on the cliff hanger - OMG he's got "the wand" !!! Can't wait for Part 2!!!

This was my first movie in IMAX and I was not let down!! The movie was so intense I actually jumped out of my seat a few times. Although the movie seemed to jump around a lot I think in Part two everything will start to make sense. I can't wait for the next one.

This has to be the best HP film. It had everything in it that a movie should have laughs, gasps and thrills. The effects were amazing and seeing it in IMAX was so worth it. At the end of the movie I wanted it to be July so they could just continue it. I can't wait for part 2 but alas, I must.

I always have mixed feelings about the Harry Potter movies. I love the books, but the movies have always been hit or miss (although never awful...with the exception of perhaps the third movie, the change of director and set drove me nuts). As a general rule I have enjoyed them but always thought the movie simply didn't have enough time to properly tell the story. Splitting the 7th book into two parts is, I think, the best decision the director could have made. Having that extra 2 1/2 hours makes the difference between a well developed story and a quick mishmash of scenes like Shyamalan's Last Airbender. The movie ended exactly where I expected it to end. I thoroughly enjoyed Part 1 and look forward to Part 2.

All the reviews everywhere are pretty much right... this was the best potter movie to date! It may help for those who are not fans to watch Movie 6 before seeing this one (my husband was lost for most of the movie). As for those of us who have read the books and love the movies, this one does not disappoint! Fast past, scarier and more adult than the previous movies (just like the books)! This movie had exceeded even my expectations.

This movie was an amazing experience. Emotional, funny, warm, at times scary, always intriguing, and as exciting as anything I've seen on a movie screen. David Yates did a tremendous job of directing; the images leap into your lap, and the pacing is just right: thoughtful and contemplative when it needs to be, as rip-roaring as early Spielberg in just the right spots. And I can't say enough about the acting. Every performance is a gem. This is a 2.5 hour movie, but it felt entirely too short, and when the screen went dark and the credits began to roll, the entire audience cried out, "No!" Because by then things were just heating up. Sadly, we'll have to wait until to July to see how this beautiful fantasy masterpiece wraps up. Better than "The Lord of the Rings."

I have 3 boys aged 7, 10 & 13. This movie was a hit across the board, including myself and my wife. It is darker than previous movies, but stays true to the Harry Potter storyline, that gets darker each book.

While the Harry Potter series has not short-changed itself in it's continuing quest of entertainment, with this first half of the ending, it has truely outdone itself. The beginning was a little bit on the slow side, but once it was about 20 minutes into it, it is sure to grab the true Harry Potter fans attention and not let it go. Throughout the movie, it has continuous moments of "grab-and-go" effect (where it grabs your attention and jumps to another scenerio briefly). But the method in which this is done in this Harry Potter, is seamless. While you do not want to miss a single minute of this first half, if you need to take a brief intermission during this 2 1/2 hour movie, you will not be lost when you return. I would personally recommend that you watch the other Harry Potters before you watch this if you have not aready done so - especially The Chamber of Secrets. It's not a loss if you don't, but it will help you understand certain references that are made throughout the movie. The ending of this first half was 'detectable' -but certainly enjoyable. I cannot wait until Part 2 comes out - as part one has me 300% on edge waiting to see the climax and outcome!

I love Harry Potter movies, but I have to admit that each movie gets a little darker, and I like it a little less. This time there were parts that we just didn't get. I always read the book after seeing the movie, and I guess that will fill in the holes. I like more of the lighthearted banter that breaks the tension.

This is, by far, the best of all the Potter movies-dark, emotional, exciting, sad and very, very close to the last book!
The CG special effects are wonderful-we left the theatre wishing part two was coming out sooner.
We highly recommend!

The new Happy Potter was great. The best movie in rekation to the affects and the acting. Possibly not for younger children due to the darkness of the film, but still awesome. The IMAX screen made the movie even better. I cannot wait for the second half to come out!

Usually I cannot sit through a movie that long, and this one was so good, I couldn't leave me seat, nor did I want to! it was fabulous, a ton of action and very well thought out. The acting was superb! I can't wait for the next one, then I will be sad, they will all be over.
