I would classify myself as a stark critic of the Harry Potter films because I adore the books so much, yet I would have to say that I did in fact, greatly enjoy the movie. However I am sure that this is predominantly the result of choosing not to read Deathly Hallows for a forth time, just before watching the film, and so I did not end up examining every bit of detail to compare the films accuracy with the pages. I had done exactly that with the Half Blood Prince and thus found the film to be absolute trollop, leaving a huge amount of necessary information out, as well as getting a tremendous amount of things wrong, yet in this film, although I still noticed that the storyline was a bit in pieces and didn't flow (a disaster for anyone who had not read the books- but they were obviously not the target audience), it was much more accurately produced and in my favour.
On the positive side though, as I noticed another person say, was that many lines were taken rather neatly from the book, and a great deal of the scenes being incorporated- which is perfect! Then what can trump that? Well, for the lads out there, this is Hermione in her 'wow' element (or at least I was too smitten to pay proper attention to her mistakes), and plus, there's a bit of Bonnie back! Back to the point... I was torn emotionally through the film, in this way and that, which was wonderful (except hmm, I guess we've forgotten about Madeye then), but further still I was gripped. This was the first time i've been to an IMAX theatre and I must say, it couldn't have been any better!

Wow! This film really blew me away, me being a hardcore Harry Potter fan right from the very beginning with the books. I thought David Yates did an outstanding job of directing. David Yates, David Heyman, and Steve Kloves really did an excellent job of choosing the most important parts to include in Part 1 (Of course not every picky detail could be shown). Overall imagery in the movie was very good. I also thought the cinematography was really good and the acting was definitely improved by everyone. Rupert Grint's performance was strong and one of his best, along with very strong performances by Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe. I was very impressed of how the film followed closely with the book. This Harry Potter movie had to be one of the greatest, if not the best, book to movie adaptations I've ever seen. Hands down, best Harry Potter film. Very much looking forward to Part 2 in July 2011.

This movie was absolutely fabulous! Best one so far, and I can't wait for part 2. If you've read the books, it definately follows the story line. Of course we always want every detail from the books to be in the movies, but it would result in a 10hr film. I think they did a great job of getting all the important parts into the movie. Of course since it is part 1 of 2, it leaves you wanting more. I can't wait for part 2 to come out. It will be a bittersweet ending to a wonderful story.

The movie was great, I love the IMAX experience even though I got stuck at the bottom (I was only 1.5 hours early opening night). I felt that the movie really stuck to the book, there were so many scenes that are almost exactly how Rowling wrote. Granted some parts of the book were meshed together in one scene, I was very satisfied at the amount of detail in the movie. I couldn't tell where the movie was going to stop, and where they were going to split the book. It was a good spot.
Overall, I am glad they split the book into two movies, it allows for more details in the films. The movie had excellent detail, the acting was superb, lots of action, and the slow spot in the movie matches the slow spot in the book. I'm happy.

The beginning to the end of this wonderful series is the best of the lot. The mood of the seven book is immediately felt before you even see any of the film with the WB logo seen rusting over. From there it only gets better. I could not be more excited or giddy over how much is actually covered in this movie, it's utterly brilliant. The kids show just how much they have grown with their acting abilities in this one. I cannot wait for part 2 in July. Go see this film! Oh and if you can, see it in IMax, it was just breathtaking in that format.

Many of the Harry Potter movies were good, but did not do justice to the vision and scope of the books. This one was amazing. It developed the books and was visually great. The way they did the "Tale of the Three Brothers" was wonderful. Sort of Tim Burton-esq. But I think it was perfect. I think them splitting the movie was a wonderful decision. I cannot wait until part 2!!!

I was a little worried about this movie going in. Not pessimistic, but worried. It's part one of an epic finale and after a decade of being invested in these fictional characters, their ending is important. I was immensely satisfied. The cut some things out--of course, that is necessary--but I think they did a better job explaining some things that other movies did not. This might be the easiest movie to watch if you haven't read the books. I have read them all though, and I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I'm not much of a crier, but there were a few times I got misty eyed. Those who watch it can probably guess when. I went to the midnight release and there was a great energy in the audience. It made the experience. And, thanks to this site, I didn't have to wait 2 hours on line for a ticket and then end up sitting on the front row. I like having my neck not cricked. This movie seems long, but when you're watching it, the time goes quickly. I'm going to see it again and again, and then probably buy it.

If J.K Rowling wanted to end Harry Potter, she did it with his last book. The movie was dark and angst, with a lot of sad moments with Hermione leaving her home.
As Harry and Voldemort are in a race to find the Horcruxes and either use them or destroy them.
The movie was amazing as it is tying everything together. Harry goes back to his birthplace, where his parents were murdered. Was so moving.

WHOOOO HOOOO! I loved it. It was exciting and entertaining. I thought some things were left out, especially Harry's struggle with his feelings about Dumbledore. The tensions with Ron and Hermione were also played down. But who cares!!!! It still was GREAT.

This was an excellent movie, containing much dialog that is straight from the book, something I can't say for most of the other movies. It was well directed, visually satisfying, and hit all the right HP spots. They also deviated in the right places when compacting the book into a movie.
That being said, there were many irksome moments. The fact that Polyjuice Potion didn't affect the characters voices, discussions from the book that there seemed to be time for but were left out of the movie, and the fact that Harry's invisibility cloak was only seen during the tale of the Hallows, to name a few. Lastly, the movie was rated PG-13; devastating and exciting portions of the book were cut out to achieve this rating.
All in all, the movies get better with each one, and this is no exception. To all HP fans, if you haven't seen it yet, you definitely should.

I loved it. They didn't have to do any cheap gimmicks to commercialize the movie (ala Jar Jar Binks). True fans and casual fans alike will enjoy. Only downside is it not good for young kids.

Deathly Hallows Part 1 stayed very true to the book/story, which I appreciated. The adds/deletes/changes were minor and when made they were appropriate for the most part. Action and Drama from the beginning this installment will not disappoint. I saw this movie in an IMAX auditorium which made it that much more awesome - clear, crisp, "I'm there with them" view into the movie. The actors have grown even more into the roles/characters and it shows - thankful for the great cast as always.
Can't wait for Part 2!

The movie was following closely the actual book story, which was a big plus. It was action packed and full of drama. The have gotten everything down including the deaths and injuries. Mr. Yates did a terrific job directing it and not making it so predictable. I will definitely be watching it at least one more time. And the IMAX experience was completely worth it. I give it two thumbs up, way up.

I am so glad that this movie was made to follow the story line as close as it could be. The actors have matured and we are rewarded with their progression. The movie lived up to my every expectation. You felt as if you were part of the story. It was worth only getting a couple of hours sleep. I am going back to see it a second time during this week. What a ride. It is bittersweet knowing that this wonderful story that made our teens want to read again is coming to an end. I am happy to say that I am blessed to be able to share this and the previous movies with my 18 year old and his close friends. J. K. as a parent of a once young teenager, thanks for sharing your imagination with us. You are a blessing to our and their generations. Everyone young and old Go see the movie!!! It is worth it!

I liked this movie. I'm sure it wasn't easy to plan out. If you read the book, you understand that some of those things were rather lengthy and would just bore movie goers. However, I think that the director knows the difference between "need to know" and "needless" as far as plot goes.
The usage of acting without dialog was excellent. The short shots of important sceens, I didn't like but still worked for the movie.
The ending was perfect. Leaves a low down part for the next movie to start at while still making enough room for a bang ending. It makes you want to know what happens next.
There's a bit of comedy which is a plus. But overall it was a good movie. I recommend reading the book before you watch the movie or you most likely won't understand the acting that lacks dialog. It's easy when you expect it but like with the last movie, if I had not already known the story, I'd be left with a "huh?" feeling.
IMAX made it clearer and crisp. It was like holding Harry's hand as he ran along the forest.
In conclusion: I love the actors and actresses in this movie. The director needs to go back to school. The plot still worked and the actors brought the movie to life. The producer got lucky.

The first half of The Deathly Hallows did not disappoint. For anyone who as read the book, there was still a lot of points that weren't covered but I felt that this movie, (with the exception of HP1) followed the premise of the book most accurately. It didn't drag on like HP5 and HP6 and moved quite rapidly for a 2 1/2 hour film. Now its time to sit back and wait until July 2011 for Part II.

This is more of a preemptive "let's hope they don't mess this one up" type of review. I think anyone who is a fan of this series can rightly declare the accountable movie studio parties as largely inept and/or unwilling to strive for the greatness we have come to expect from such other franchises like LOTR. Peter Jackson constantly fought for the proper budget and creative control that he knew was necessary to make a historic movie trilogy.
They only had one shot at this and besides the 1st 2 movies in the Potter series, it is blatantly clear that the movie studio has not even attempted to spend the money and/or time that such a franchise deserves. I, however, remain optimistic that they have simply been biding their time and have treated movies 3-6 similar to the 2nd movie in the Matrix trilogy. That is to say, they are simply there to connect the beginning to the end -- nothing more, nothing less. And that in and of itself, gives me hope.
Also, given that they have split the 7th movie into 2 parts is a sure signal that much more time and effort was put into the last installment in the series. I am cautiously optimistic and looking forward to this movie release. However, let's hope they don't mess this one up.
