I thought that they did a really good job with this film. I loved how the characters got to go more in depth and Dan, Emma, and Rupert really stepped it up. I loved that the plot followed the book pretty well and they ended it at a very good spot. Not too much of a cliff hanger, but it still left me ready to sit there for another 3 hours for part 2! Can't wait. Great work guys. :)

First one that I felt you really had to have read the book to follow, due to the choppy editing early in the film. But they did have a LOT to squeeze in. Best acting so far. Excellent cinematography and beautiful locations. Even if you know what is coming, you will still jump out of your seat for some scenes.

This is the Harry Potter movie that is finally treated as a film. In comparison with its predecessors, this film is moving and mature. It takes the characters to new levels and makes them more human and real than any other Potter film. Even though magic is still the focal point, it is now more about the people behind that magic. The importance of friendship has never been so prominent as it is now. This is the next level. This is Harry Potter the way you read it back when the books came out.

This movie absolutely lives up to hype and exceeds all expectations. It weaves along well with the book and the characters are continuously developed throughout the movie.
Word of caution though: This movie will keep you in suspense for every second of the movie. You will be completely sucked into this movie and take every step with Harry, Hermione, and Ron as they evade snatchers, death eaters, and even He-who-must-not-be-named-himself.

Like many Harry Potter fans, I had my doubts when Warner Bros. announced that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" would be filmed in two parts. For once, however, the WB made the right decision, because Part one is an intense and thrilling installment.
Harry, Hermione and Ron all come of age in this film, especially Ron Weasley. In many ways, Rupert Grint's Ron is the real star of Part 1, as we see his Ron struggle through the rejection he has felt all his left and come out on the other side a more self-assured young man. Watching Ron's development is one of the thrills of DH Part 1.
Emma Watson, too, has embraced Hermione's maturity, first with the agonizing decision to wipe her parents' memories to keep them safe. Then there are hints (only hints; this is after all a PG-13 movie) of her sexual maturity, especially when our intrepid trio is captured by Snatchers.
Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe, as the star of this epic series, has grown into one of the finest young actors anywhere. His acting chops have been on display through the past three movies, and now he has taken on Harry Potter with the clearest sense of do-or-die yet. In many ways, Harry, Ron and Hermione symbolize all the young men and women everywhere who are asked to take on society's most challenging services, knowing it's quite possible they may die in the attempts.
Of the supporting actors, Jason Isaacs as the dissolute, disgraced Lucius Malfoy and Tom Felton as his son Draco, Harry's other nemesis, make the most of their woefully few minutes of screen time. The emotion between father and son in the key moment of identifying a disfigured Harry marks one of times when the terror of Lord Voldemort's hold over the Death Eaters can be truly felt.
As with "The Empire Strikes Back" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers," "Deathly Hallows Part I" ends on sad and inconclusive notes: the death of the elf Dobby and Voldemort's capture of the elder wand from Dumbledore's corpse. Yet most in the audience seemed prepared for the unsatisfying ending, appreciating the set-up for the real conclusion arrives six months from now when the Battle of Hogwarts begins.

Harry Potter 7 Part 1.... was best movie out of series. Imo it was on point with everything in the first half of the book. The action, graphic, and sound was awesome in IMAX too. This is definitely the best Harry Potter yet. I'm so glad they decided to split it into two movies, so they can put more into them than they have before.
They added details I thought were excellent and the cinematography was great. The plot was true to the books and the acting was phenomenal. Highly, highly recommended and I can't wait until next summer for the final part.

While the 7th book is a very dark and depressing one, the movie picked up on this while still maintaining bursts of humor. It was very true to the book and characters, and as a fan of the books for 10 years now, I was pleased with the portrayal. The acting abilities of the cast really stepped it up, and I have no complaints about this film. Excellent!

I think that this movie followed the book very well, there may have been a few things off here and there and there could always have been other things I would like to have seen and the middle while being somewhat slow (still kept the story moving in the right way).....but that being said this movies was entertaining throughout (good mixture of action, drama, and comedy).....i will watch it again and makes me eager to get to summer of next year to see part 2!!!

The movie was so good! As always there was quite a bit cut out of it, but they still managed to keep the integrity of the plot intact. It was a great mixture of humor and the dark times of the book. I would go see it again!

The movie was faithful to the book. It was exciting, funny, thoughtful, and just well-done. For people who love the books, its much more satisfying than previous films, especially the order of the phoenix!!! But if someone hasn't seen any of the other films, it would just be confusing. It was emotional and gritty, sexy even. I loved it. The score was awesome. I can't wait to see the the last movie in July.

It is for die-hard Potter fans who know the Deathly Hallows and the previous Rowling books well. Outsiders (Muggles) may not enjoy it as much as too many characters keep popping in and out. Emma, Daniel & Rupert have evolved into such fine actors before our very own eyes. They are awesome in this one. Taut Screenplay & direction makes this movie the best of the Potter series by far.

I saw this in IMAX and this was by far my favorite Harry Potter moving out of the whole series. And I love how David Yates stayed fairly true to the book and were he chose to end it.

Although Yates has not done a stellar job with the past HP movies he has directed, this movie was superb. If you are a hardcore potter fan, he only changes enough to make it a cohesive story, and it is a great representation of the book. For simple movie goers, if you have seen the past HP movies, you will totally understand the story, and love it. Personally, I cried three times. I laughed several times. It was truley one of the best films of the year.

2 moms and 4 teens had a great time at midnight last night at The Deathly Hallows. As kids who grew up with the actors and movies, our teens had high expectations. They loved the movie and their moms enjoyed it too. There aren't many things teens & moms can truly enjoy together. For the millionth time I say, "Thanks J.K.!" I've loved raising my children with the books and films as a constant frame of reference for what is good and just.

I can't help but think everytime I see a Harry Potter movie that "I imagined it exactly that way when I read the book". This time was no exception. We went to a midnight IMAX showing, and once the movie started, all 5 of us were totally taken in (even my 9 year old didn't fall asleep). It was well worth the money and the time!

I couldn't believe that I was actually standing in line at 3:00AM to see this movie, but it was SO worth it. The attention to the details really blew me away. I have to say that this is a bittersweet moment for me. With reading the books, of course I know the ending, but I am so fascinated with seeing how it gets there. HARRY POTTER ROCKS!

I loved this movie. I do recommend, however, that anyone read the book prior to watching the movie. There are some detail holes that might leave you in question. I'm sure they might be answered in the sequel to this movie, but you never know.
I absolutely loved the movie. It was action packed. The comedy was just enough to get a good laugh and it was well placed. The two and a half hours just went by quick.
I have to say the films just get better every single time and Deathly Hallows is no exception.
Do yourself a favor and watch this movie. No matter if you're a fan or not - this movie is absolutely wonderful and possibly one of the best movies of the year.

Harry Potter has been my life since Jr. High, I am now 23 years old. Each year as the three get wiser and more interesting, so does the movie, by 500%. I felt like I was in the story, I laughed and cried like I was actually there with them. I dreamed about the movie and I can't stop thinking about the movie. I don't want this to end this summer with part 2.

I loved every moment of this movie from the beginning all the way through to the end. I am an avid and committed reader of the books and this movie held true to the books in a way I havent seen before. I believe this is the best movie so far. I highly recommend seeing it and seeing it in IMAX.

An excellent adaption of the book. Good screenplay, great acting, exciting and scary in all the right places. The ministry scene had just the right tension. I was suprised at where they stopped as I thought it would be two scenes earlier - but it worked out just as well. it was well worth taking my 12 year old to the 3am IMAX show and we will now doubt see it many more times while it is in first run. The only downside is having to wait until next summer for the finale. Bottom Line - run, don't walk to your nearest theater.

This movie was excellent. Although it didn't follow the book PERFECTLY it did a pretty dang good job. I would watch it a million times over. Great movie for all HP fans!
