I saw the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in Imax and it was amazing!! I was worried that the 6-story high screen would take away from the movie and just be too overwhelming, but it wasn't in any way, it just made the experience 10 times better.
Some people are dissatisfied with this Harry Potter, saying it never reached a climax, left out sooo many details, well, I disagree. The scenes of action are extremely well done and accurate, and of course there isn't an intense super-climax because that will happen in the part 2! I think the directors did a superb job at sticking to the book, sure they left out or adjusted minor details, such as how they arrived at the conclusion that they needed the sword, they used a portkey to get to the burrow in the beginning, etc, but do those details really change anything? NO, they don't! I loved Harry Potter "7.1" and I can't wait for the final movie!!!
Go see it! And if you already saw it, see it again! (I did)

Excellent sequel to the Harry Potter franchise. Best complement is that I never looked at my watch to see how much time had passed. Well paced, story line. Great to see that the kids have grown up and this has been worked into the movie. Dance scene was a bit awkard. Have not read any of the HP books and I love the movie. First time I have watched a movie in IMAX.....wow. Am spoiled now. Looking forward to the summer Part 2.

Probably because it was faithful to the book, most of the movie dragged. The whole tone was morose.
The set pieces were fine, as were the special effects, but there were too many long periods where I had to fight to stay awake.

A very well done portrayal of the more mature crew and the dangers they are facing head on. Keeps you interested and and engaged from the beginnig. Saw it in IMAX, and it was definitely worth it for the upgraded picture and sound!

I loved it..I have been taking my goddaughter to each new movie and we sat crying, laughing gasping and enjoying the moview. We were able to follow every step of the movie and cannot wait till next summer to see the final part. The characters showed why we love them, the fear the tribulations, the love it's all there. The first part of the HP finale is very good, but if you are not familiar with the books or the films that came before you run the risk of getting lost, very lost. However, this challenge is exactly why I loved the movie. I am a Potter fan, and have invested much time in the series, so it is gratifying to see a movie that is made with the true follower in mind. Don't get me wrong, there are parts that everyone can enjoy, but in slower moments of exposition if you are not understanding the journey these characters have all been on, then you could lose interest, but not me, and surely not Potter fans. Can't wait for the conclusion!!!

I saw in IMAX and it was awesome. I started to reread the book this past week so that I would be on point with the movie. It really stayed true to the book. The Sword of Godric Griffindor was so cool .It was so sad when Dobby died. I still know that Lupin, Tonks, Colin Creevy, Fred, and 50 other people will die. Luna looked totally different then I thought. I wanted to see all of it, Harry entering Hogwarts, breaking into Gringotts, Harry killing Voldemort (You-Know-Who. The name's still Tabooed.)and Aragog's descendent's. I wonder if they really are the size of a small school bus. It's kind of sad that Severus Snape (Professer Snape) died. I'm looking forward to the next Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. It was so funny when Harry and Ginny were kissing, they didn't even notice George was coming in. In fact, I didn't even know George was coming in.

The Harry Potter experience in the IMAX was a rush. The technical execution of the special effects and audio were stunning and well executed, especially when the creature action makes you jump out of your seat. This was a departure from some of the lame emotional drama in the earlier Potter plots, with some very original and unexpected plot twists, more action and intriguing interactions between the characters. I loved this one more than the previous episodes and can't wait for the next movie. There was only one part of the movie I didn't care for and that was what appeared to be an "experimental filming" segment when Potter and company are "chased" in the movie on foot. That could have been improved and should have, but by far this movie exceeded my expectations.

Because the film makers divided the book into 2 movies, they were able to include so much more of the details. The movie might have seemed a bit slow to those not familiar with the book, but for an avid HP fan like myself, I thought it was thrilling to see. It will make the conclusion of the series SO MUCH better.
The IMAX experience enhanced the visual and audio effects immensely. I'm not sure it was worth the exorbitant rate per ticket, but it was probably 50% better than watching it on a smaller screen.

IMAX was nice, but not worth +50% of the price. When I see this a second time (which I most certainly will!), I'll opt for the standard theatre and less expensive price. Very good adaptation of the book, unfortunately also including the slow parts when the book seemed to get bogged down. The actors handled their parts beautifully (as usual), including some of the most heart-wrenching scenes we've yet witnessed in this saga. There is so much story to tell, it's unfortunate that a few of my favorite parts of the book were not in the movie (Dudley's parting words to Harry, and Ron's gift of a sock later on). I also have to wonder if some portions of the story entirely make sense if one has only seen the movie and not read the book. Too bad the way the story goes, two of our favorite "characters" are absent from this one: McGonagall, and Hogwort's!

My family is addicted to all things Harry Potter, so we had high expectations going to see this movie on opening day. Well, we were not disappointed!
My two teenage sons, my husband, and I left the IMAX theater extremely satisfied. We couldn't stop talking about everything that was right about The Deathly Hallows. So much detail from the book was included, the acting was superb, music was lovely. There were several particularly emotional moments in the movie that were handled beautifully by all.
We're SO glad that there isn't a long wait for Part 2's release, yet we're also dreading that day because then this Harry Potter journey will truly be at an end!
A GREAT job has been done bringing this final book to the screen. Fans will NOT be disappointed!!!!!

I was really let down by the Half Blood Prince so I didnt really expect too much from this one.Needless to say I was blown away.My boyfriend doesnt even like Harry Potter and even HE was on the edge of his seat.As always the story will change from book to movie a bit, but for the most part it was dead on.The special effects are GREAT. They have come a long way and I cant wait to see it again. =)

I enjoyed this movie very much. Adding the Imax screen to the Rave was a stroke of genius. Quality was exceptional. They did condense some sections of the book. Only empact it had was that it ommitted some characters you will never know about but didn't really affect the film overall (unless your a harry potter fanatic, in which case i sympathize but its still good)

There are no surprises in this latest installment - but as Potterhead I am not looking for surprises I am looking for what this movie did so well - remain true to the spirit and character of the book. The tension was thick, the FX awesome and the suspense genuine. This is worth seeing twice on the really big screen of IMAX - do not wait for this one to come out on DVD and Blu-ray - it will not be the same.

See it in IMAX if you can. It's like being right there next to Harry. Don't read the book before-hand because you will get annoyed by all the little things that are different. But in terms of the sequence of events it is identical to the book. Best performances yet by all actors. Everything I dreamed of and more. :o)

The acting is great, the filming is amazing and I always love how they choose to depict things like apparating and the pensieve. However, this film would have been completely confusing if you hadn't read the book. I hated how so many important things got left out, or alluded to but then ignored, or added for no apparent reason. Why did Tonks start to tell about her pregnancy but then it wasn't brought up again? Why did the group show up at the burrows and not at Tonk's parent's place? Why did they show Mad Eye's eye on Umbridge's door, but never once explain that his body was searched for but never found????? The dance scene between Harry and Hermione was silly; we all know that there is absolutely nothing romantic between them and yet there seemed to be some allusion to a potential kiss. I could go on and on, but the editing of this film made it far too Disney and not cohesive enough.
