The Harry Potter series is an amazing story, with many characters and a lot of details. The movies have all done an amazing job of staying true to the books while keeping the audience engaged. Part 1 of the last movie has a lot to live up to-and it does not dissapoint. It starts by picking up right where the last one left off, hits the floor running, and keeps going at a fast pace. It does not go too fast to keep up with, and still keeps all the important points in the story. Definitely a must see for all HP fans!

The tone and sense of betrayal throughout the movie reminded me of Star Wars' The Empire Strikes Back, though this is much darker. The movie is one long escalation of loss, which happens everywhere our heroes turn. They only have small triumphs while the growing malevalence has major successes. The story progression is marked by betrayal after betrayal and evil grows in power each step along the way until by the end it appears on the verge of triumph.
The visuals are stunning and the movie is exceptionally done. However, it will be too dark for some people to deal with.

The first movie in the two-part series finale of the undisputed most successful movie franchise was perhaps the greatest installment ever made. With being split into two films, more and more content from the original story we all know and love was featured in the movie, and honestly, I don't think they missed much out. It was great, much faster paced, more action than anticipated, and finally we were able to visualize our favorite band of wizards as they embark on their final journey to destroy the Dark Lord's horcruxes. The movie ended with a cliffhanger, but it was totally satisfying.

This movie makes me wish Part 2 were being released sooner! My sister and I had a HP movie marathon before seeing this and it is by far, in my opinion, the best one. It follows the book, to the most part, which makes me more excited to see the ending. The 2.5 hours passes WAY too quickly. I found myself laughing, crying, and jumping. I definitely recommend this movie.

For those of you out there that felt crucial items were overlooked in past movies, you'll like this one. They stayed very true to the book even down to some of the dialogue. I will probably see this again over the holidays as well as right before part 2 comes out.

After seeing this movie I am glad she is not writing any more books. She has definitely lost it. Dumbledorf is "dumb" enough to bury the wand with himself after all the other elaborate schemes to hide things. Give me a break! Hermine was the only saving grace in the movie. My husband fell asleep.

Definitely worth the little extra to go to the IMAX. Sound and screen quality was excellent. Of course the plot and actors we've grown to love and they did not disapoint either. There were at least two instances where the action was so fast in fighting scenes (and up close) that it was not possible to track who was doing what. Only negative.

I managed to get a ticket to last night's showing of The Deathly Hallows, and I was not disappointed. The last few movies had a lot of stuff from the novels cut, but this followed the first part of the book completely. Superb acting from everyone, but especially Rupert Grint. If you have an IMAX near you, definitely check it out in IMAX; it's worth every penny.

A friend & I had a HP marathon and finished all 6 of the previous films the day before going to this. We started at 11am Thurs and finished at 3:30am Fri. The only negative I have about this movie is the 2-1/2 hours went by way too fast! The animation sequence of The 3 Brothers was STUNNING. I'm seeing it again over Christmas! I seriously CANNOT wait until Part 2.

You can really tell that the director took great care with the subject matter, plot and feeling in this movie. Overall, I felt that the story was treated with great respect. This kids are more grown up and this movie reflects that. Was it non-stop action? No, of course not. Seems that the plot dragging a bit was a common complaint for book as well as this movie, but there is a lot of emotional depth in this that was not present in many, if not all, of the previous ones. I felt there was plenty of action and I appreciated the emotional depth.
All in all, I felt this was one of the best Harry Potter movies in the whole series. Loved it.

Wow...really epic. The special effects, and music...just great! Sticks with the book too so all you hardcore Harry Potter fans can stop complaining. The only thing i don't really like is the acting....it's meh...and it makes the touching scenes far from it's effect. But everything else is great. All I can say is that whoever decided to ignore Hollywood and Make Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows exactly according to the book was brilliant. Having read the seventh book recently, it was clear that at least 90% of the script came directly from it's pages. Since, at this point in the game, almost all of the audience members are faithful readers, it was a welcome relief to see a movie that had finally and completely gone by the book itself. The actors too have finally come of age, and grown into their potential as actors, such that this movie feels like it could stand on its own on as a film. The two and a half hours flew by, leaving the audience at the perfect ending, not on a painful cliff hanger, but with a sense of definite eagerness to see part two.

The movie feels a bit rushed and slow at times. I think Mark Day has done a terrible job as editor of the last three movies. David Yates as director has done a fantastic job in bringing out the best performance in the heroic trio. The musical score was great, it literally sets the mood of the film, nostalgic, funny and at times dramatic. The screenplay is good also. The actors did a phenomenal job, all of them! Ralph Fiennes is outstanding as Voldemort. I wouldn't give any credit to Warner Bros, they are just a greedy financial institution called a "studio." Anyway, Harry Potter is a fantastic story and for those who loved the book it will be a treat to see the film. I also think it was a good idea to do this movie in two parts. I won't be sentimental and give it 5 stars, but I think overall it does deserve 4. This movie is not for very young or sensitive children unless they have a strong mind or strong parental guidance. Pay attention to the rating! It is actually PG-13. And it is not necessary to see it in IMAX, any good theater screen with good sound system will do!

It was 10x better than the other movies and the darkest yet. I love how it just keeps you hanging by a thread at the very end. The only bad thing about the movie was that, like all the others, it leaves out a lot of parts from the book. I went with a bunch of friends and we all loved it. Going again for the next one!

two and a half hours flew by! very intense but lighthearted at the same time. pretty by the book as i remember. can't wait until july for part 2!!
