I have been a fan of the Harry Potter series for the past five years. I began reading the books as per a friend's recommendation, and I couldn't put them down. After that, I began seeing the films on DVD. At first I was a little disappointed. The earlier films in my opinion couldn't quite capture each nuance of their literary counterparts' graphically detailed, and character-rich chapters, which I read frantically each night on the graveyard shift. Although now I realize it is nearly impossible to go into every single detail of the books in a little under three hours. The Weasley twins alone, should have their own book. However, beginning with the Goblet of Fire, I feel the films have been doing a better job of capturing the stories, which have been growing increasingly dark since the third book, The Prisoner of Azkaban. With each book and each film, you could almost feel Voldemort begin to strengthen and Harry wrestle harder with the demons that haunt him. I am giving special kudos to Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, and Ralph Fiennes, for their amazingly dark portrayals in the roles of Bellatrix Lestrange, Severus Snape, and Lord Voldemort. The entire cast was brilliant, but I have to admit, there is something strangely sexy about these three characters. It must be my dark side...I loved it!

HP 7.1 is dark and true to the book. It may be the first of the movies that had me in tears more than once. Good choice on where to cut the story in "half" and well executed. Fastest 2.5 hours in a long time and worth the extra if you can see it in IMAX. The incredible casting of these actors when they were mere children shows now as a brilliant choice all around. I want to get to the last movie...but I don't want to get to the last movie...because it will be over.

This is a great way to come to the end of this series. The movie shows the children as almost adults ready to deal with adult issues, problems. The action keeps the audience engaged. I was sorry when it was over. I'll probably be in tears next summer when I see the very last film! All of the movies did justice to the books. My only regret is that, in the other films, they had to cut out so much of the daily life of the children as students. Be sure to read the books, or see the other films first, though. It would be hard to understand what is going on if this was your first introduction to Harry Potter.

Was a very good movie, stay close to the book, I reread the book a couple of days prior to seeing the movie, they did take some liberties and changed who did what in some of the scenes as well as how events actually happened in the book (cafe, MofM etc..). There was so much detail in the book that they could not fit all of it into the movie. Worth watching, saw it in IMAX not sure which I like better will need to see another movie in regular to have a reference. Go see it.

Wow......... that's all I can say, is WOW!!! This was BY FAR the BEST Harry Potter movie of them all! This is definitely the first time I didn't leave the theater fuming because they left out important details or because it felt fake or rushed. Breaking up the book was the BEST decision the producers could have made, because the main thing I hate about the other HP films is that the feel SO rushed, and therefore artificial. This installment unfolded at a natural pace that made the whole thing feel SO real and believable that you found yourself sucked into the story within minutes! Once it had you in it's grasp, it thrilled, excited, and shocked you, made you cry and laugh, and overall made you really FEEL like you were IN the movie. The acting was SUPERB, the directing was FINALLY cohesive (Yates finally decided on the right feel for the movie; it didn't have that fake "I'm watching a Harry Potter movie" feel), the soundtrack was MINDBLOWING, cinematography was great... OMGSH I just don't even know where to begin, or end!!!!!!! I would see it again today if I wasn't going to see it with my family next Wednesday! The only thing I have to say is that you DEFINITELY have to see it in IMAX... it really made the whole thing SO captivating and thrilling and basically added to the overwhelming AWESOMENESS of the whole thing!!!!!!! Gosh I think I'm done now... ACK! I'm so happy! See it! In IMAX! Today! :D :D :D :D

It's good to see that the production team once again pulled it off! The film had a very appropriate look and feel for the subject matter, certainly more serious and grown up than the earlier movies. Be advised that there are visible blood and wounds that might be upsetting to younger viewers. It is helpful to read the book first, or at least re-watch the previous movie to remember where they left off, not a lot of time spent in exposition. All in all, the 2.5 hours flew by, and was a great night out!

I am a huge Harry Potter fan and couldn't wait for this movie to come out. I was not disappointed! The movie was great, it had all the important story lines from the book and they even ended it at a good spot to start the last one. I enjoyed the movie immensely! I agree that they've definitely grown as actors. There are a few things from the book that I wish were included, but I was still very happy. I had to fight back tears at the end (especially since I had strangers on both sides, LOL) and, of course, I had read the book and knew what was going to happen.

This is arguably the best HP film thus far. The acting has come a long way since HP3 and it seems we're in for a real treat with Part 2. Several scenes did not lend themselves to a younger viewing audience (indeed, several families left following a particularly frightening scene); however, this do not detract from the overall feel or atmosphere of the film, which is, needless to say, tense and exciting. All true HP fans will find this to be the crowning jewel in JKR's magnificent HP crown.

HP7, Pt.1 is very entertaining and reasonably faithful to the book. However, there are a few "sketchy" scenes: George's injury near the beginning of the movie looks like bad make-up and fake blood from a D movie; the P-juiced Harry, Ron and Hermione scene in the M of M is weak; and "sexed up" Horcrux scene is hyperbole and gratuitous. It's spelled H-O-R-crux people!

If you have followed all the Harry Potter movies this is a must see. It was funny and suspenseful. This movie connects all the other movies together and really keeps you thinking. I cannot wait for the final movie. I would however caution that the movie is not suited for younger children based upon some of the scenes. I may even see it again.

This was a very good film, and well done on the part of the studio. It seems to set up well for the second part of Deathly Hallows, which should be even better.

I've been following Harry Potter for over ten years now. This has to be the best movie out of them all and one of my favorites of all time. Most fans were wary of the "two parts" deal, but the movie is phenomenally true to the book. The best so far. It's the end of a legacy and the actors are giving it everything they have.

IMO Deathly Hallows I is a terrific addition to the franchise for fans, but will be confusing for people unfamiliar with the boy wizard’s story. This rather dark and densely packed episode features quite good acting by its young stars, excellent cinematography and special effects, a very effective musical score and top-notch production values. In summary, it’s a well done film that should be seen in IMAX to be appreciated.
PARENTS NOTE: The murky story, violence and loud sound track are unsuitable for young children. Teens and up okay.

I felt that this movie, more so than any of the others, stays true-er to the book. I was really happy with their interpretation and it seems like they're trying to keep things organized. Unfortunately, this book is so jam-packed that someone who hasn't read the book may have a hard time understanding 100% of the movie. There are dream sequences/references to Grindelwald/Dumbledore's past that aren't fully explained along with Ollivander/Gregorovitch story lines that aren't clear. Nonetheless, any Harry Potter lover is going to see this; I just hope you read the book or have someone to fill in the holes.
