Ok... I am 37 years old and have enjoyed Harry Potter more than any grown person should. The books (particularly the audiobooks) have been some of the best I've read. And while each of the films have been a bit of a disappointment because in each case the book was sooooo much better, I thought this time would be different. What, with TWO films dedicated to the book, I just knew I would be in for a treat that would be true to the book....NOT!! I can't believe I took off from work and everything to see the film first. Ah well.... Others who had not read the book that were in the theatre with me really enjoyed it; really because they didn't know what they didn't know. Also, the ending seemed abrupt. I think they should have ended the film at a different part. And so, I am ending this review.... abruptly.

We saw this in IMAX and, while it was a novelty, I don't think it was worth the extra money. On the plus side, I won brownie points from the big Harry Potter fan in the family. A good continuation of the Harry Potter tale and it was enjoyable to see the same actors maturing in their characters - after all they couldn't stay teenagers forever at Hogwart's. I'm with the fan who would have liked the entire ending in one long film instead of broken into 2 separate money makers.

Growing up with Harry Potter I only hoped that the final of the series was up to expectations, and thankfully it was. It kept me on the edge of my seat, jump, laugh and cry. This is a must see if you are a fan. It's a wonderful way to end the series, can't wait for part two next year.

Thank you for getting back to the story line. I am a huge Potter fan and was extremely disappointed with Movie 6 and how they added things to the movie that were not in the book. The Dealthy Hallows was full of action, emotion, it was well acted and stayed with the story line. What more can you ask for. Would pay to see it again in a heartbeat.

The movie is a must see as are all Potter flicks but there are a few things you should know.
The cast has grown up and along with an adult cast come adult themes. The youthful magic of the child Harry has vanished as fast as a Snitch, replaced by dark, sometimes terrifying situations that caused at least 3 children in the theater I was in to leave. I overheard one 6 year old saying "mommy, I'm scared' as she drug her parent out of the theater.
The battle between good and evil is not nice and not fun and this is well reflected in Harry Potter 7. It is most definitely PG13. Without giving up the plot I can tell you jealousy rears its ugly head at one point and there is some nudity which appears to be half real half CGI.
This latest installment has more of a 'Lord of the Rings' feel to it, abandoning childhood revelry and treading upon the dangerous ground of wicked adulthood.
Harry Potter and friends have grown up and so lost that childhood wonder and innocence that enchanted kids the world over. I have removed one star in homage to this lost innocence, and for that little girl who left the theater scared.

The story line has advanced so naturally the characters as well, which shows. The child actors are now all experienced adult actors, and that as well shows which greatly enhances the entire movie. Watching it in IMAX is thrilling. Everything from scenery, acting, and adherence to the book is exemplary! The best of the movies, and am eagerly anticipating the final segment of the series. I do not think anything could be improved in this latest installment. If you are a fan of the books, you will not be disappointed. The movie is suspenseful, engaging, as well as dark and foreboding. I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!

Best movie of the series. Might be a tad confusing if you haven't read the book, but if you have read the book you will love it. Very impressed with WB because they stuck very closely to the book and did not make up many scenes. Can't want until Part 2!

I went to the 'Special' Midnight Showing of HP...from 12 to 12:30, we got to watch pretty colors flash on screen and pretend we were high. Then saw the HP movie, where we cheered extra loud when it came on and boo'd once when the sound cut off in the movie for like 10 seconds. Afterwards, we got a free movie ticket and... a small popcorn!! Besides all that, the movie was AWESOME!!! I just wish that WB wasn't so concerned about making more money and made the last movie in one part. I know I would have sat down and watched it for five hours plus+, and I know a lot of others who would, too =)

This was one of the best of the series. The actors have progressed a great deal in their skills. The scenery is breathtaking, the CGI is flawless and the animated sequence for the Deathly Hallows was stunning. The pacing was just right. It is true to the book. My favorite scene is the Polyjuiced Harry sequence where he is retrieved from Privet Drive...watch the "Fleur/Harry"...it's hilarious. There is a lot to see and a lot of inside jokes that true fans of the series will appreciate.

Harry Potter 7 part 1 was one of the best Harry Potter's so far. For those who have read the books you will find this one stays dead on. The acting, special affects, and build up for part two did not fail. The only thing that was upsetting was having the movie come to and end. You want to keep going. Great show and lots of fun special events. Glad I read the book first, but many scenes stayed true, of course other details left out. I was ready to cheer & clap for Dobby, but held back so as to not embarrass my son. July can't come soon enough for Part two. A must see for HP fans.

Part one was awesome it really stayed true to the book, yes of course a few things were left out but that is too be expected. The film was amazing and I can't wait to go see it again. Maybe the trailer is too fancy that I expected too much of it. It is true to the book indeed, and I think it is an outstanding adaptation of the original book. but as an independent movie it is not as good, sometimes confusing and the intervals between adventures too peaceful, but that's exactly what's in the book. A "Nicely Done," goes out to all who had anything to do with this production of Potter!! The tone of the movie was just the one needed to make the movie a good translation of the book, my personal favorite of the seven. Seen in the IMAX presentation, it was a great way to see a movie of this kind and the fastest two and a half hours I have spent in a theater in a long time! The pacing was just right! The acting by all concerned was great, a perfect aid to helping set the tone, along with the stark yet beautiful and amazing scenery which really helped translate the feelings of the trio. The story included all of the important scenes from the book, setting up the last part of this wonderful series of movies to finish with a dynamic conclusion. After seeing this wonderful start, I look forward to the release this summer of the finale. I would love to see them back to back, a wonderful way to honor the last book of this amazing series! Well Done!!!!

FINALLY WB gets it right! The film was long enough (HOORAY!) and included enough of the story from the book to make good sense to those of us who've read the books. It also told the story in such a way that those (like my husband) who've never read the books "got it" (except he didn't understand why the kids didn't fight the Snatchers - I told him I felt the same way in the book, but I've probably forgotten something from the book that would've explained it.) At any rate, the film is brightly lit enough, which can't be said of HBP, which is great. The location shots are gorgeous. I would like to know how the Burrow is standing after being burned down in the last film - and if it was rebuilt, why is it still so rickety looking? That's my only real complaint.
My highest praise goes to the trio - their acting in this was superb. It's obvious they're all adults now and taking their craft seriously. Beautiful film, wonderful acting - a real treat of a movie.

Excellent movie! Daniel Radcliff, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson are brilliant. The intensity, story, and effects were amazing. I also think it is emotional. You really feel for the actors. Ralph Fiennes really comes alive.
