The movie was excellent, but I feel like there was too much hype surrounding the movie. Although I understand this was a long awaited movie, the hype made the ending anti-climatic. Movie was shot in some extraordinarily beautiful scenes! Made a suspenseful movie even more moving with the juxtaposition of the beauty of the woods and beaches with the events that were occurring. For the younger crowds, not scary at all. A few shocking scenes, but just that--a few.

I really loved this movie! I have been a fan of Harry and company since I read the first book to review it for suitability for my grandkids. Fell in love and have been ever since. J.K. Rowling is a master at what she does and the screen writers are nothing short of genius! I have enjoyed watching the characters grow and mature and look forward to the final chapter. I am both excited and sad for the last installment in July.

I saw this movie with my wife, she is a Harry Potter fanatic. I was happily surprised at the acting chops that these once 3 children now young adults showcased in this movie. Even withouth the 3D label I thought this moview had depth. The story telling aspect in this installment was done beautifuly. Action wise this movie left us wanting more and more and at times seemed to be a tad bit drawn out. This movie did just what the people at Warner Bros wanted it to do, it left us wanting more. We have high hopes for an action packed and maybe as good as the book, final chapter to this amazing series.

Saw this with my 13 son and we both loved it. He liked seeing Ron again (his favorite character) and could follow the movie even though he hadn't read much of the last 2 books. I liked the pacing and how dark and somber, it lightened things up with the dance one evening.

As a fan of J.K. Rowling and the Harry Potter book series, this movie was an excellent portrayal of the book. Of course as with all movies, there were liberties taken for the theatrics of the movie itself but in my humble opinion, Warner Brothers has outdone themselves. The movie was exciting and fast-paced but kept true to the storyline. The time flew by and the movie left us wanting more. If part 2 is anything like part 1, we are all in for an outstanding finish to one of the best stories of our century.

HP7 Part 1 was more than a true Harry Potter fan could hope for. Taking on The Deathly Hallows is a daunting task. The book is jam packed with action - which is why the film was made in two parts. This film was the closest of all the films to the actual book it is based on. The direction and cinematography is spot on - the overall feel of the movie keeps everyone (even those who know what is going to happen) on the edge of their seats. Bring on part 2!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (part 1) is really superb. From the opening heartbreaking minutes to the last shot this movie delivers on the promise of the Harry Potter books. I was at the first showing at our IMAX theater and can say I really enjoyed the movie. It was full of action, a little humor and the darkness that I have come to expect from all of the movies. I will agree with alot of the other reviewers that the book was better, but if, as I have come to expect, you watch the move in the context of the other movies it was a great addition to the franchise. I have learned that the movies that come out of Hollywood rarely are absolutely true to the written genre-some of that is the written word and some of that is the injection of imagination that makes books so enjoyable. If you do not go with the preconceived idea that the movie will be exactly like the book It will be a greatly entertaining experience. Don't expect the book--the two are different and both accomplish the goals of their respective genres.

I thought they did a great job with this movie. I am also a huge fan of the books, and although the movie can't capture everything, and the movies changed a few details, I still think it was stupendous. The acting, settings, and special effects really did justice to this book, and the whole series in general. I'm sure I'll see it again before it leaves the big screen. After reading all the reviews about this movie being depressing or ponderous, I entered the theater expecting to be disappointed. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy the mix of humor with action and horror. There were nice additions to the book material: for example, showing Hermione obliviating her parents' memories of her, with the melancholy that resulted from it.
The weakness is there, though, in splitting the book into two movies. The ending, if you are not familiar with the book, is confusing. And, although I greatly appreciated the Part 1 movie's inclusion of much of the book's detail, it would also be confusing for someone not familiar with HP7, in following the various secondary characters, like Yaksley.
I'll be back to see the movie, in regular projection: although I enjoyed the IMAX experience, I'm not sure it was worth the premium price.

I took my granddaughter and one of her firiends to the 12:01 A.M. showing at an IMAX theater. Even at 68 yrs. old I really like all of the Harry Potter movies, but I have to say that this one is by far the best. Can't wait for the last installment to come out.If you want to enjoy a little magic and get out of your head for a while I can't think of a better way to do it. The only thing I hate is that this is the last and it is going to be hard to say "goodbye" to Harry, Hermoine,Ron and my and my granddaughters' favorite person, Snape.

I was surprised that this movie dragged threw the middle and ended rather abruptly. I have a Potter fan but this one left me wanting more.
