Since, I've never read the books, I rely on my kids to tell me how the movies were in relation to the stories. They've all been entertaining but this one was suspenseful and, except for the house elves, not cutesy, at all.
Can't wait for the finale and wish they'd worked some of the darker details through the other films.

Seeing the finale, Part I of the Deathly Hallows was an amazing experience and of course, done perfectly to go with the story. I highly recommend seeing in at an IMAX theater because makes you feel like you are right there!!

I loved the movie, but Felt like they where trying to squeeze in 30 sec for all the main characters, I would have sat thru another 30min of movie just so more characters could have gotten more screen time. I also thought move time should have been spent on the wedding, and then at the end when Dolby died, they didn't show that they where at Fluer's house. I understand they coulnt put everything in, but a lot was still left out. Also we could have done with out the CG sceen of Harry and Horminone making out in the nude.

I would not take a child below the age of 13 tothis movie. It is much darker then any of the movies by far. I found it lagging in parts and wonder if they could have gotten a bit more dialog in between characters. OVerall it was a good movie and I will see it again but was a bit disappointed.

This was an excellent movie. I admit, I was a little concerned about the same director being in charge of this one as the 6th movie because I was very disappointed by Half Blood Prince. I like the fact that valuable time wasn't wasted explaining every little thing. Overall, very solid film. (Except no albino peacocks at Malfoy Manor. I was looking forward to that!)

I did not re-read the Harry Potter books nor did I watch the movies over again. I did not want to take away whatever tension and mystery this movie had to give. I was not disappointed. This movie was well-worth the money I paid for IMAX (although I suspect 3-D would be much more excellent). The actors have come to a maturity with their acting, giving it a more natural feel than the previous movies. Kudos to the director and all the other people working behind-the-scenes. The movie had a good balance of seriousness and light-heartedness and not once did I feel it dragging the plot. Every second I was sad, laughing, or scared out of my seat. No time to waste on zzzzz's. The ending was perfect. Just enough suspense to keep you wanting more, but satisfied enough to wait for a year more (hopefully less). Brilliant. Definitely worth five stars.

This was the best movie to mimic the book. The others veered from the books, especially the 6th movie. I am glad that they choice to split this movie in two parts. I think that a lot would have been missed from the book had they only done one movie. What sound effects this movie had too!!

Loved it! This was everything I expected it to be. I knew that they would have to shorten parts of the book for time reasons and they did a fine job making sure they still including everything that was truly important.

Favorite part are many. The story was well told and the acting has improved a lot. The example being the dancing scenen at the tent. Most heartbreaking moment was when hedwig dies. Watched the film twice, looking forward for a third.

This was the bleakest of all the HP movies. While the others were magical, mysterious, funny, fun and adventursome, this one was boring and tedious. It's as though the producers felt that their now, young-adult crowd was more into horror than magic and fantasy.
I know it's a must-see movie, and you won't wait 'til it comes out in DVD, but don't pay to see it in iMax, that was a definite mistake!

As the title implies, the movie definitely lived up to the book. It had just the right amount of intensity and grit, and was a lot darker and mature, as was the book. The lightheartedness added to the movie by the Weasley twins and at points Harry and Ron was just enough to allow for valleys and peaks, making sure the movie was not monotonous. The last scene was a great place to end the movie and it defintiely left me wanting more. If possible, I would have sat through both parts back-to-back just to finish it out. I can't wait for Part 2!

Harry Potter fans will love the movie. Though you can't get all the detail of the book into the movie - it truly captured the story. People are describing the travel scenes as a bit slow, but I believe that's part of the story. As a set up for the last movie...it's perfect and well done. Was dark enough, but not too dark for the younger heartier fans. Its great to see so much of the British star power in the many new characters. Fun ride...true fans should make sure to see it in a quality theatre. The snake scenes are chilling.

This was as close to the books as the HP movies have come! I can't wait to go see this movie again. You'll be seeing the credits before you know what happened, this film flows so well that you don't realize time has passed at all. Details start getting pulled together and Part 1 is preparing you for Part 2 excellently! I highly recommend seeing this one!!!!

This was a wonderful collaboration of converting the extremely long book into a shorter movie that keeps the story line intact. It is a little dark for the younger fans but the book was too. I would absolutely recommend this movie to anyone.

The movie was fantastic!!. Stayed very close to the book. Recommend to all fans and you should definitely watch it in IMAX. Can't wait for Part II :)

The movie was fantastic. It stayed true to the book, which is hard thing for directors to do now a days for some reason. I was worried about how they were going to end part 1, but they did an excellent job! Best movie there is!!
