I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! It is risky to have some big name stars relegated to supporting roles and to count on a beginning actress to carry the movie, but Gina Carano delivers. This former real-life martial artist is not ready to win any Academy Awards yet, but she brings a realism to her character and certainly to her fight scenes. Multiple plot twists involving rogue spies are becoming a common movie theme, but this movie does a good job with it, and balances drama with humor very nicely. Carano will improve with experience, and I'd certainly go see a sequel with her character. This fast-paced show was good entertainment!

This movie is going down as one of the worst I have ever seen. I want my money and the 2 hours of my life I can never get back. There was no plot, only about 15 mins of total dialog to speak of. It's like they took scenes from a move threw them in the air and this is the result. Hollywood owes an apology for this one. I am sick of spending good money on trash they don't even care enough to do correctly.

This is a fun, fast paced action movie. Newcomer Gina Carano handles the many action scenes with ease. The dialog may be a bit stilted, and Gina could use a few more acting lessons, but it's not War and Peace! This is a female action hero, and while she's no Angelina Jolie, she is fun to watch when she gets going! If there's a sequel, I'll see it.

i went in to see this movie because i was excited to see a female lead in an action thriller,,,,,,,something we have been missing since Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider and Jennifer Gardner in Alias. while the action/fight scenes were amazing and exactly what you thought you were going to get, the dialogue was very much lacking. There seemed to be a pause in between each sentence as if they were reading off of que cards. Overall i felt that it did introduce us to the actress, who i enjoyed, and who i think has potential but it was lacking a polish finished if you ask me definitely a REDBOX movie

Gina Carano does a commendable job as the heroine the story is "wrapped around" but that does not fix the problems with dialogue, pacing, editing and within the story itself. With so many well-known A-list actors appearing in Haywire it would be easy to assume that the story would be better, the dialogue more nuanced and the film, in general, of a higher quality ... than it turns out to be. I kept thinking that director Soderbergh might be going for a 2dimensional grindhouse feel .... but it fails in this arena as well .... never going over the top as we want our fave grindhouse reels to do (as often as possible). I would give 5 stars to 4 action sequences that total about 30 minutes and the rest of the movie gets 1 star ... maybe some honorable mention stars for the interesting musical score that is intriguingly fun at times in it's incongruity. A rhino horn with some snagged barb wire dangling from it down.

My wife and I enjoyed this film. For the record, my wife picked the movie after reading reviews of the other fare available. First let me say, that Gina Carano is smokin' hot. So, ladies, if you're the insecure, jealous, type then please refrain from seeing this with your man. Second, tell me why she, as the title character, didn't get top billing in the cast list over on the left? Third, I read knocks against Gina's lack of dialog. Well, they did the same thing with Clint Eastwood and it made him an international star, so get over it folks. Then there's the talk about how her voice was altered in a sound stage, presumably because of her lack of voice acting skill. As far as I can tell they didn't have someone else dub her voice, they electronically altered her voice to make her sound a little harder so her voice would be more consistent with her character as an ex-marine and spook. Again, bfd, Having heard her speak on many occasions I think it was a good move because Gina sounds like an honest-to-goodness girl-next-door. The flintier edge they gave her voice fits the character much better. I also read stuff about how Michael Douglas and Antonio Banderas were under utilized. Well, who's the title character? Right, so why spend anymore time on superfluous characters than is needed. Lastly, it was really freakin' awesome to see fight scenes legitimately choreographed and performed by a legitimate fighter. There was no special effects depicting incredible moves that defied the laws of physics and human mechanics because none were needed. Gina performed plenty of incredible moves all by herself. There wasn't any of that in-the-middle-of-the-action, shaky-cam crap, that's designed to hide the fact that the "actor" can't really fight. Personally, I much prefer to see the fight action at a short distance so I can appreciate and enjoy the skill and science of the fight. And, no, Angelina Jolie could not have played the part nearly as well. If you disagree, then I ask you to reread the shaky cam sentence. Having said all that, I'll be buying this film when it appears on Blu-Ray, and I hope there's a sequel.

Though Mal does not resort to punching below the belt as a rule, in one memorable sequence she strangles a man, one of the handsomest currently working in films, with only her thighs, and stares him down as she does it. Like HAYWIRE itself, it’s a moment that can be taken many different ways, from high camp to trenchant observation on how the genders interact. Either way, it makes for a film that is absorbing, tense, and unexpectedly piquant.

I had high hopes for this movie since there are tons of stars in it. But the lead female is not an actor by training and it shows. She delivers her lines horribly and even her fight scenes, which are what the story is built around, are amateurish. The jabs and other moves come way too slowly to hold everyone's interest.
Our whole family (all adults) went and kept looking at each other throughout the film because we were wondering how we had chosen such a bad movie. Our 25-yr old son got up and left the theater for about 10 minutes. He said he couldn't stay awake because the movie was so slow.
The only positive thing about this film is that I'm glad Antonio Banderas is getting roles again. Although I expected much more Ewan McGregor, whose role was useless. There is no way his character could have been the head of a black-ops firm; he was much too much of a wimp!
My advice is to stay away from this picture. Wait until it comes out on Cable or in Red Box.

"Haywire" "is a Fast-Paced, In Your Face, Action Thriller". The only real complaints I have is the movie wasn't long enough and the dialog wasn't as strong as you would expect given the strong cast. Also I think Angelina Jolie would have made a better female lead. Gina Carano plays Mallory Kane who is a highly trained Black Ops agent for a government security contractor. Her missions take her to some of the most dangerous parts of the world. After Mallory successfully rescues a hostage journalist, she is betrayed by the very people she works for. Once Mallory determines exactly what is happening she will stop at nothing to get at the truth and find out who is exactly responsible. The story unfolds from there... There are many serious fight scenes and some crazy stunts. You have to pay attention because the story is told in flashback fashion. If you like high-impact action thrillers "Haywire" is your movie.

The movie had a lot of action, really good fight scenes, not bad in that respect. The reason I only gave it a fair rating, I think the entire script could have been written on two sheets of notebook paper. It was horrible, Gina NEVER said more than about 5 words MAX per scene! If the written script had been better, MAYBE the movie would have been a little better. Contraband is a much better, I mean MUCH better action flick. Lem Dobbs might be a better script writer once he graduates from 6th grade, because a 7th grader could have come up with a better script, the plot was good, but there probably aren't more than 200 words in the script, if you subtract Douglas" and Banderas' words.

This was one of the most disappointing movies that I have ever seen. The acting was atrocious, it even made Michael Douglas & Antonio Banderas seem awful. I think I have seen better fight scene choreography by my 4 year old grandson. My husband owes me 5 chick flick dates for making me watch this crappy movie. Cynthia Rothrock would have kicked her behind, just thought that needed to be said :)

I saw this as midnight showing. I felt it was great action/fight scenes and great cinematography, but it had horrible directing, acting, and dialog. The main protagonist is NOT an actress (literally, she's an MMA/Gladiator/whatever fighter). They distorted her voice to make it sound deeper yet in doing so they made her seem too stoic and unemotional with all of her lines being deadpanned. The other professional actors were sadly pretty bad (worst film for Ewan McGregor). Even a scene of McGregor trying to look reminiscent made him appear bored and unemotional. Michael Douglas was the exception, he did a great job but that's pretty much expected of him. Well, Antonio Banderas did appear to be a legit douche in his scenes, which I'm hoping was intentional...
I enjoyed the fight scenes a lot, but I expected more from Steven Soderbergh and the high class cast. I say see it as a matinee and just enjoy the fights while ignoring the bad dialog.

I haven't been so disappointed in a movie in a very long time. The story line was terrible and the acting was reminiscent of something you'd expect to see in a grade school play. Ugh! I would have rather slept for that 93 minutes and saved myself the agony of watching the likes of Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas and the new to movies Gina Carano absolutely butcher this pathetic excuse for cinema.

I was looking forward to seeing this movie because I remember Gina from Gladiators and Friday night fights. Then when I saw all the other A list Hollywood actors I knew this movie had to be good. I am sorry to say it wasn't. The story line was disjointed, the characters lacked personality so it was hard to care about them and the background music was weird and didn't fit very well. I lay the blame on the director and the writer or writers. Sad waste of good talent.

A vigorous spy thriller that consistently beckons the viewer to catch up with its narrative twists and turns. Bordering on convoluted, it works best when in combat mode. Haywire" is a lean, clean production, shot and edited by Soderbergh himself and utterly free of the incoherent action sequences and overcooked special effects that plague similarly scaled Hollywood pictures. A must see if you can make it through the winter weather.
