This was actually much better than I thought it was going to be. It did a good job of answering many of the questions that the other movies opened up. The characters where very well done. Went with my 13 and 18 year old and we all enjoyed it very much.

The movie does a great job picking up from scenes from the last X men movie and explaining the freindship and break between Xvier and Magneto. Its full of adventure, action, and drama. It was a great movie to watch and I look forward to the next installment.

Well organized movie. great story line and not at all boring. Took my 7 year old daughter with me and she loved every moment of it. Also Family friendly, no nudity and minimal curse words. Had me on the edge of my seat all through. Best movie of the year.

This was surprisingly good movie. Might have been the best written in the franchise to date. I really love the discovering of powers storyline and all of the history they provided for many of our favorite characters that we see later in life in the past few movies. Combined with some pretty epic action scenes, this was overall a great movie. If you are a fan of the X-Men and/or superhero genre, this is a mus see.

This movie provides excellent insight into the the relationship between Magneto and Professor X. This movie stands on its own, and doesn't require seeing the other X-men movies or knowledge of the comic books. A great film - action, humor and a touch of romance. A must see.

While there were some throwaway scenes and the plot was a little fantastic, this is a superhero movie that needs to be taken seriously. Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy are a fantastic link to Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart. You can easily see these two transitioning the roles to the older actors.
I can't wait to see what they do for the second film. **Spoiler** Watch for the Wolverine cameo; very funny!

Directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, Snatch), First Class takes place in the 1960's during the Cuban missile crisis. It primarily focuses on the friendship between Charles and Eric aka Magneto. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender were perfect choices for the portrayal of Professor X and Magneto. This film has one of the best screenplays ever written in a Marvel film as well. We really see Eric's internal conflict inner peace vs. vengeance and how Charles and Sebastian influence them. If I had one complaint about this movie, it would be that it doesn't follow the comics. SPOILER ALERT Havoc appears in this prequel, making him the older brother of Cyclops - which is wrong. This also occurred with X-Men Origins: Wolverine and I'm still baffled as to why Fox continues to do this to the fans. Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Don't miss this one!

Casting was spot on, action was high intensity and effects delivered on believability.
The story begins where it began and I love seeing all the heroes in their infancy of awesomeness. Magneto stole the show, Xavier seemed a bit weak in comparison to Emma Frost. Loved seeing the back story and the beginning of everything. Will watch again on bluray!

While some of the elements were right, the story line needs work. Note to the writers: Study the material before witing the story.
The relationship between Xavier and Lensheer was developed somewhat, but as with all characters in this film, there was no development. Just a lot of crash, bang, boom. No one could care about the characters or why they did things. It was as if they were second to the CGI and special effects as used as cardboard cut-outs.
You had better study and talk to Stan Lee before your next one (and make sure it isn't 3D!). Stan, spank these kids before they destroy a good quality comic.

An overall great movie. It's good to see the beginning of some of the X-Men. My only complaint is that it contradicts the Wolverine Movie. At the end of the Wolverine movie Professor X could still walk but in First Class he get paralyzed at the end.

Comic books movies are being milked for all they are worth lately and many leave something to be desired, but the new X-men movie sets the standard for comic inspired cinema. While the movie might not follow Marvel canon (to the irk of some fans) it is a great set up for the themes that are common in many X-men movies, shows, and comics. Racism, fear, moral gray areas, and so on. The historical tie in with the Cold War makes for a great plot and that makes the movie a level above the standard action superhero flick. Kevin Bacon makes a great bad guy.
My only complaint is the overuse of scantily clad women --generally in bikinis or their underwear. It added nothing storywise and was over indulgent. The casino atmosphere could have done without it and the scene with Angel could have been more tastefully done. I know I should expect this anymore but I will not endure in silence haha.
The cameo scene with Hugh Jackman is awesome.

The movie had it's moments but wasn't as good as I had hoped. 2 hours and 11 minutes was a little much for a climax that was anything but climatic. By the end after sitting there for so long I couldn't feel my legs either and was happy to get out of there.
