I absolutely loved this movie :) There was nothing about it that I didn't like, this is definitely one of the better sequel type movies out there. Usually I think over-doing the sequels are a little overrated but not this movie, it was very entertaining, and definitely reccomend it to anyone seeing it.

This movie was a def for any X-men fan. If you liked the original 2 then you'll love this one as well. The wolverine x-men wasn't as tasteful as the original ones, but it told more of Wolverine's bacground, just as this tells the background behind Professor x and Magneto. The plot was dry at some parts but the actions scenes definitely kept me wanting to see more!!

Holy crap this movie was unbelievable. the best movie of the x men saga until now. Michael Fassbender is incredibly intense in his role as magneto. I had my doubts about Kevin Bacon as the villain but the guy impressed me. He made a hell of an impression on me what a good actor! However Xavier could have been a bit more intense and it should deffinitely stop using his fingers every time he tries telepathy.

X-Men First Class is definitely a hit movie that came out of no where. Surpassing expectations seems an appropriate descriptions, as it seems to be a theme throughout the film as well. The intricate tapestry spun by this storyline gives clarity and depth to familiar characters (painting some in unexpected lights at times), as well as some previously unknown. James McAvoy portrays young, pre bald Charles Exavier as he begins his life learning about genetic mutations and discovering there are more humans with extraordinary abilities.With his adopted sister Rayven/Mystique, he is recruited by the CIA and undertakes a mission to protect humanity from sinister mutants bent on human annihilation led by Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon). They soon meet with troubled ex-nazi concentration camp prisoner Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto who is on an extremely personal mission of his own. Their paths align as they search out others with unique abilities (a few familiar and humorous cameos included in the effort elicit cheers and laughs) in an attempt to recruit a force to oppose the destruction- bent mutants determined to unleash a nuclear holocaust as they are revealed to be the orchestrating force behind the Cuban missile crisis.
Fassbender shines as Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto as his intense pain and anger is mixed with touching sentimentality as he and his close friend Charles debate the fate of mutant and human kind. These performances themselves are enough to carry this movie, though thankfully are paired with an intense and passionately relate-able struggle that makes this a powerhouse summer blockbuster.

Outside of the creative freedom for storytelling that a prequel/reboot gives the writers - the rather apocalyptic events of the third X-Men movie did not lend themselves easily to continuation - there is a real brilliance at work here in establishing the basic origins and conflicts of the main characters. In getting to see what really "creates" one of the main antagonists, for example, we can easily identify with the character's pain, and therefore his motivations. He becomes more readily identifiable and less two-dimensional; and, while the character is smart enough and has the perception to recognize himself as being "Frankenstein's Monster", it is our cue to understand that he is not by nature Evil, but rather someone who has been shaped that way....*very* Operatic stuff. The movie consistently works on two levels throughout: one can let it wash over his- or herself as a valid and exciting summer blockbuster - and it is most surely that, rousing, cinematic and well-staged - or one can take a deeper look at the characters and the events and perceptions that are shaping them. Great, great stuff, and easily the best film in this series. High marks for production design, as well, for getting so much period detail (costume, color, credit design, even prevailing norms in female forms!) correct. I could not have enjoyed this movie more and would not change a thing about it. Can't wait for more from this production team.

When I first saw the previews for this movie I have to admit I was a little pumped for X-Men: The First Class. I’ve followed the X-Men movies from the beginning I thought it was a fairly good idea to take it back to the beginning and jump start the franchise once again. First off, for the hard core fans, there are plenty of opportunities to pick this movie apart but like so many movie adaptations in the past it takes the liberty of forgoing details and continuity to bring the story to the big screen. McAvoy, Fassbender and Bacon (Prof X, Magneto and Sebastian Shaw) give excellent performances and the casual moviegoer will probably find this movie entertaining. The movie has action and eye candy AKA - Emma Frost and I’m interested to see where it goes from here but for the geek in me it fell a little short.

This pre-qual answered so many questions from the other films. Given most pre-quls do this anyways but this was very detailed. The history of Magnito and Xavier was excellent. The tie in of history of the Cuban Missle Crises was especially cool. To have a real-life event tied into the plot of a movie is great. Kevin Bacon did an excellent job as the bad guy. Overall I was very happy with this movie I recommend everyone to go see it- even if you didn't see any of the other X-Men movies.

I have to preface this by saying, I love the X-men in any carnation. I will not say that the first X-men movie was good, but it was X-men and that was good enough, then.
This move surprised me by not starting where you think it should - it starts with a flashback that we did see in the first movie of Magnito as a child - and then explaining the facts we've always questioned. Why is Magnito so angry/bitter/resentful (besides the obvious bigotry)? How did Prof. X become a prof? And get paralyzed? How did the beast become beast? (And was it just me or was he a sexy beast, funky feet and all? I love a tall, dark and nerdy! LOL) I was further encouraged that it wasn't the same few mutants of every other movie, but that we see new faces. I thought the use of real war-time reels was genius. (My husband is a real history buff and got a huge kick out of this.) I loved seeing the old computers and tech... truly hilarious.
Overall, I would say, it's far better than most comic based offerings. (And don't we deserve better after they butchered the first Xmen movie and Electra for example?) I would spend the $24 to see it again, and that's saying something.

I have five kids (19 - 6) that all want to see this movie. I went with my oldest to the 12:01 showing. Was the movie good? Absolutely. However, they just had to have Wolverine make a cameo appearance and he had to say the "F" word. I'm sure it was to increase the rating because it had no value otherwise (there are other words and ways to get his attitude across).
How pathetic. But as a result, I will not bring the rest of my kids. I don't have this filthy vocabulary (much more educated than that), and I do not want them saying those kinds of words in my home (yeah, I know they hear it at school--but not when I endorse it).
It's like asking your kids if they want a twinkie, that has only a small amount of dog pooh in the middle. It's ok for them to eat it, isn't it? What morons for throwing that crap into the middle of an otherwise exciting flick.

I went into the movie with high expectations both as a comic collector and an action junkie and X-MEN First Class delivered. I liked the tensions between Xavier and Magneto. I also thought the relationship between Beast and Mystique was handled well. I did think that McAvoy's portrayal of Dr. X was a bit heavy-handed and Kevin Bacon was certainly "comical" as Shaw. The special effects were mind blowing as was January Jones in that outfit. Oliver Platt's performance was a throwaway. It was a very pretty film with a bit of acne.

Had action the whole time. I never felt board. I liked that Kevin Beacon was a sweet villian. I totally wanted to hate him. The story incorporated all kinds of hints about what we already know happens to the x-men. They even had a cammio from wolverine cameo.

I loved this one. The filmmakers showed a true understanding of the characters and the world they inhabit. The complicated relationship between Charles and Erik is at the heart of the story and it is around the boundaries of their respective views that all of the other aspects of the plot fall. The actors portraying them do a masterful job of making the characters their own. Fassbender in particular redefines his role in a way I didn't think possible. The other characters all do at least a passable job of holding interest but most are truly outstanding. If you're a fan of the comic, of the movie series, or of movies in general, go see this one. And keep a sharp eye out for a meaningful cameos.

Don't think about the movie timeline and you'll enjoy the film. If you read the comics you'll enjoy the cameos but be disappointed by the drastic change in storyline and the inclusion of only one of the original Xmen. I came in a bit skeptical. This movie did not let me down. The casting was spot on and the stories were done magnificent. The casting for the movie was great. Even a few tongue and cheek jokes about their future.
Even had a cameo from a character in the old movies. I have not wanted to see another movie more than once, but this one I do. Even for us who have been reading X-Men comics for all our lives will get enjoy this movie.
I sure hope they go on and make another prequel. With Storm and Scott. If you want to thoroughly enjoy a movie you will not be sorry that you saw this movie.
This movie was so good that it had the whole theater cheering and laughing as a whole. I have not been to a movie since the latest Star Trek where the whole theater did a standing ovation at the end. I did miss the Stan Lee cameo, so something for me to look for the next time.
This is the best movie of the summer of 11. Absolutely wonderful! Just a tremendous movie.

The movie was pretty good. It showed how the x-men first began and how all the mutants came together.
