This was the worst movie ever made for the xmen comic book superheroes. I'm not entirely sure why they made such a crappy movie. They made it obivously clear that their fans are not important them and to not even come remotely close for how anything should be correct. Mystique was never an Xmen. Hellfire didn't come into the Xmen's lives until WWWAAAAAAYY later. Havoc was never an Xmen original member. He later turns evil. Black Fairy. That's who their angel was... Black Fairy. Anyways, this is the worst movie ever made for comic books.

Enjoyed the film. Nothing slow about it. Was able to move past inconsistencies. I would have liked to see how Xavier struggled with a desire for vengeance (in the past). Because we don't know why he stands for peace- it seemed somewhat shallow. His empathy did make up for it- considering the limits of a two hour movie.

This is a great one.It reflects the great wisdom of professor Xavier,and the great powerful Magneto.Magneto was not born bad,in fact he is not a villain at all.He has never had a real friend,maybe the only person who really accepts him for who he is ,is professor X. I saw this movie opening night. It was awesome!! Good story, good pacing. Has a nice mix of drama and action.. I saw that Bryan Singer, who directed the first 2 X-men movies, has a hand in the story and production, and you could tell, because it was much more on tune with the first 2 X-men movies. This X-Men movie is very satisfying. It takes us back to the beginning of the first movie when Eric is captured by Nazis and put in a concentration camp. This movie begins there, and works well to show the deeper motivation of Magneto - not the megalomaniacal villain at all, but a wary victim of oppression once, who refuses to be again.
Not only that, but it treats well the relationship between Charles Xavier and Mystique, which is far more complicated than it was portrayed in previous films. It also reveals why Xavier is not eager to harm "enemy" mutants.
But the real treat in this one is the Bond-esque feel. Taking place around the time of the first James Bond movie, this X-Men movie has all the familiar Bond elements - secret submarines, white-clad villains, blond bombshells seducing Russian generals. It has it all.
Who could ask for anything more?

After a less than stellar ad campaign and hearing bad things throughout the production I wasn't expecting much. However I was more than pleasantly surprised with the final outcome. I like Matthew Vaughn and again he did not disappoint! Great character development with a great cast, the 60's element was a welcome addition to the X-men lore and I felt it fit right in with the world of the first 2 excellent installments. Magneto is a bada** too!!

This movie helps to tie up certain questions raised in the first Trilogy of movies by showing the origins of The X-Men and in particular the dynamic between Professor Charles Xavier & Erik Lehersher or Professor X and Magneto respectively. This movie takes us back to the 1960's during the Cuban missile Crisis and gives off a Superhero meets James Bond feel As James McAvoy's Xavier kinda comes off as a Telepathic British Cad almost bordering on Austin Powers type. With Magneto being played by Michael Fassbender who like Sir Ian McKellan before him gives an awesome performance as the powerful mutant. I did like how all the characters played off one another and gives you a glimpse of what influenced them to become who they are in the future as well as being able to see how certain situations can change someone for the better or for worse. There are some really cool cameos and "Easter Eggs" in the movie but for the sake of not giving any spoilers won't be mentioned here. Oh and for those expecting a "Mighty Marvel End Credit Revelation" like we say in Brooklyn...Forgettaboutit. Unlike Iron Man 1 & 2 Thor, Incredible Hulk there is nothing at the end of the credits...as Those other movies were setting the stage for "The Avengers" movie coming next year. All in all...this is a Perfect Summer Blockbuster Popcorn movie that Even if you don't know the Comic Book History of the characters you will still enjoy how it all unfolds and be wanting to find out more. In my opinion a Must See!

Set during the Cuban Missile Crisis, this X-Men prequel is fun to watch and well crafted. Magneto and Prof X are awesome characters and it's great to finally have a movie that explains the origins of their rivalry. Sorry, but this is not a good movie. The plot development is terrible and the action / suspense is nothing compared to the other X-Men movies. Bleh.

I'm a big fan of X-Men and this was the best one yet! Out of all of them this is now my favorite. It showed how everything got started especially the connection between Magneto and Professor X and how they came to be opposed. Apart from an excellent storyline the specially effects were awesome.

6 months ago you could rarely find anyone in the "movie critique media" that had anything positive to say about this movie. Even the comic book geeks and fan-boys were derisive. Then, about 6 weeks ago, as more evolved trailers and posters began hitting the market, you could feel the "aura" shifting. Over the last week the metamorphosis is complete - 75%+ are loving what they see .... and with good reason. Director Vaughn has done a remarkable thing by producing a great summer action superhero flick for the fan-boys that "lurk" in most of us on one level or another. X-Men First Class can be almost equally enjoyed by the non-comic book educated viewer as the story on screen has real universal, historical and sociological implications - for all of us. I was a consummate comic book collector geek myself back in the late 1950's through my college years in the late 1970's. I had every issue of X-Men, Spidey, Fantastic Four, IronMan, Thor, Dr, Strange, DareDevil, Hulk, Captain America, Ghost Rider, Blade, AntMan, Avengers, Defenders, Captain Marvel, etc. I have those artist, writers (usually Lee, Kirby, Ditko, Colan, Buscema, Ayers and Romita ... of course), stories, covers, evolutions and assorted details enmeshed into my memories and subconscious. I guess this provides me with a certain perspective on the superhero movie genre of the last 25 years. That said - X-Men First Class is right up there with some of the best made superhero films of all time. Not a masterpiece but very well done indeed! Kudos to Vaughn, his amazing cast, writers, special effects pros and cinematographers! A glowing red mutated rhino horn up!

This is a fantastic (like the 4) prequel to all the X-Men movies we have seen to date! I didn't really know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this film.
It is not just an incredible (like the Hulk) superhero movie but a great drama as well! There are some really excellent performances by a first rate cast, with a perfect blend of action, humor, and special effects.
Marvel seems to be having a good deal of success with their comics to cinema adaptations.
"X-Men: First Class" is just as amazing as Spider-Man, and worth seeing on the big screen!

This movie is a reboot and does not have nothing to do with the first 3 movies. They did not tell the story right and twisted things around. My favorite part in the movie was Logan telling Charles and Erik "To Go F*** Themselves." I loved it
