Nice to see for a change a movie concentrating more on being a good story than an special effects film. Although the special effects were awesome!!! I enjoyed this movie from begging to end..I was not disappointed in any way. My hopes and expectations were met. We walked away satisfied.

This X-Men pre-quel was well written as well as acted, however there are a few faults in the story-line that do not perfectly fit in with the other movies. In X-Men 2 Professor Charles Xavier tells that Magneto built the Cerebro as well as the Jet, in this movie you see that "The Beast" (Hank) actually created both devices, there are just a few minor details like that do not quite fit. Still an amazing story with very creative sequences in the film, special effects to die for, and characters that do not feel like they are simply reading a script. Lots of emotion and depth, I loved the young Charles Xavier, however feel like they could have chosen better for the 'Mystique' character. Kevin Bacon is always a pleasure as well as Oliver Platt, whose comic relief shines through the darkest plots. I would love to see another of these movies, continuing on after X-Men 3, where Charles dies. I do realize that Magneto's actor has passed on, and no one may be able to fill in his shoes. I do hope they attempt their best though, I love these movies more than most!

Wow! I was pleasantly suprised! Glad to see new and old faces (characters) in the film. Story line was great for the Film but didnt follow exact Marvel lore. The visuals and actor were great. I loved it because it was set in WW2 and the 60's. The characters and the build up of X-Men group was great. I was a little disappointed in how they show Xavaier becoming wheelchair bound (not according to the comic books legend). Where was the Stan Lee cameo!? No special ending at end of credits, but still a fun action romp!

I thought this movie was fantabulous. I loved getting to see some background on Mystique. Charles was kinda boring, but Magneto was great. It was nice to see the background to why the Xmen are what they are.

Let me provide the summary first: If you’re looking for pure grammar-school escapist fare with lots of bangs and booms and flashing lights, and a minimally complicated storyline and shallow characterizations, then you’ll get what you pay for in this X-movie.
The slimmer half and I were looking for a way to spend our date night and decided a movie was it. The available selection was miserable for semi-intelligent adults looking for large-screen entertainment.
We settled on X as an experiment to see just how dumbed-down these kinds of movies had become these days. We were not disappointed in our expectations. Oh, make no mistake, we were not expecting the drama of Witness for the Prosecution, or the character development of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, or the spontaneity of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, but I hoped for just a smidgen of depth somewhere.
I know X is a big screen comic book but somehow I reasoned they might just throw the occasional semi-adult viewer an intellectual bone. I guess the bean counters didn’t see the value in compromising the formula. Again, if you’re looking for a couple of hours of mental anesthesia, you’ll not be disappointed.

I really enjoyed X-Men First Class!!! The relationship between Professor X & Magneto(before their code names) was spectacular!!! 1st Beast, Banshee, Angel, Havok & Mystique was really cool... The cameo of Wolverine had the whole theater clapping LOUDLY!!! Great how he was meshed into the fabric of the movie... ABSOLUTELY GREAT MOVIE!!!

Excellent movie with good action, script, and cast. Some of the performances were standout..too bad the dialogue didnt stand up to them. An interesting historical tale, but the characters never really develop til final 20 minutes of the film. the leads were great...Xavier, Erik, Shaw are great.the female mutants and their friends (Moira) were relatively weak, with the exception of Mystique. Some digital effects were outstanding, while most appeared flat. the flying sequences are pretty cool and hold promise for future installments. As an XMen fan from way back,I am always excited to see these muties brought to the screen, so I had high hopes. I'm sure the challenge of an ensemble cast requiring introductions/origins is very difficult, so ill cut them some slack.I simply wished there had been more action.

Overall it was a good movie and I think it did a good job of relating it to the previous movies. I do not think however that it went in depth enough towards the end of the movie. It just kind of stopped. It could have used less detail in some parts and more in the end.

Sequels have the challenge of taking a story and continuing it without losing some of the magic that made the first one good. However, prequels have an even greater responsibility. Reinventing characters from an earlier point in their lives, paying homage to the personalities that were already seen, and rolling back technology in accordance with what would be appropriate to a film based in another time are all opportunities that many films fall short of succeeding in. First Class does not disappoint.
The character background, particularly for Xavier, Magneto, and Mystique, was perfectly attuned to the personalities that are shown in future installments (prior) installments. Each character's history is well-established and believable, with credit in large part owed to the actors for conveying them as effectively, and the screenwriter for delivering scripts that are in keeping with the individual personalities that are being portrayed.
Casting-wise, each person that was selected is well-suited to their roles, both in physical match-up to their future counterparts, and in accordance with the characters. The scenes are also well-crafted, dutifully displaying events in a realistic fashion for that time in America's history, whether in costumes, television broadcasts, or displayed technology.
The story itself was my favorite element. Obviously, X-Men is an adaptation of a long-run comic series, so ample background exists to craft the film around. However, where many directors would diverge heavily and reinvent the story, this film strikes me as unfolding far more accurately around the comics' plot, which I appreciate very much.
As an enthusiast for the X-Men comic series, this film is a must-see. I was exceptionally taken by the product that was delivered; this may even have been my favorite of all X-Men films that have been released to date. I would highly recommend it, whether your intentions are to view it for the entertainment, for the accuracy in adherence to the original storyline, or for the acting/film technique.
Go see it - you won't be disappointed!

Reasonably well written. Expository dialogue and improbable one-liners were fairly frequent. Nevertheless, the endearing characters, incredible special FX and thrilling plot line made it work. The clear message of self-acceptance and tolerance was at times a little too self-conscious and over-bearing. Other than that it is a solid summer action flick worth watching a couple of times.

This movie was filled with so much action it kept you on the edge of your seat. It helps to understand all the characters better.

This is a classic example of packing too much into a long story. Overall I liked it because of the "pieces coming together" of the characters, but it just took too long to make it all come together.
