The whole family loved it. My 13 year old son as well as my 7 year old daughter. I loved it because it was nice to see a female herione. The colors were wonderful with the scenery etc. The whole movie was great!! The bears at times were a little scarey. It was a nice story line. The transformed mother bear was funny especially when she was trying to talk to her daughter and hide in front of the men.

Brave entranced our group which ranged from a 60 year old to a 3 year old. Like another reviewer, it was so much more than what I expected. Legends have a basis in truth and if we listen well, they can teach us so much. This movie had heart and there was spontaneous applause in the theater when it ended. That speaks pretty well to an animated film. It touched us all.

Brave was a great movie for the whole family. The story moved along well and there was never a lull in the action. It's a great story that everyone can understand and follow throughout. My kids loved it, my wife and I loved it as well as our friends that came along. We can't wait for it to come out on DVD.

Once again Pixar amazes us with the animation!! The story maybe a bit scary for the younger children but over all it is a fantastic family movie. Tho some teenagers may find this a "been there... done that " a thousand times can't they come up with a better idea. Just means that they missed the underlining of the story.

We saw Brave as a part of an audience that was predominantly adults, and everyone was involved in the story throughout the movie. The art is terrific, the colors are sharp and right, and Merida's hair is a character all its own (and rightly so.) The dialog is engaging, and the characters are surprisingly well developed. One of my companions has done some study on medieval castles, and she was impressed with the accuracy of the castles in the movie. (She was bothered by the glass in the windows, but forgave them for the sake of the story line.)
Well done, and fun for all!

Story was ok...kind of regurgitating the typical Disney storyline involving a witch, princess, and a curse of some sort. Still, it was touching and brought thoughts to my mind involving my own children.
CGI, however, was incredible. Such detail and lighting effects are the best I've ever experienced from PIXAR.

Brave is a great family film with an overall positive message. My children walked away with an understanding of how selfish desires can harm others and while parents may be wrong at times, it is never ok to be rebellious.
The overall animation was great, the scary parts sufficiently scary without being the stuff of nightmares and the emotion invoking parts, invoked appropriate emotion. The vividness of the colors and detail of Merida's hair were amazing. It makes the viewer want to visit Scotland on their next vacation.
I loved that my daughter would reach over and pat my arm or lay her head on my shoulder every time the mother and daughter in the film argued or shouted at each other. She understood the emotion and the stress that it was bringing to the story.
The only negative is that once again all the males in this story were portrayed as bumbling men, who have no communication skills or ability to understand the finer points of life. Can they protect and care for their families? Yes. You are given the impression that is all they are good for, once again the females in the family must "rescue" the men from their incompetence.
Overall a good movie and would recommend

I loved that this was a different type of princess story and Merida was a different type of princess. I lover her character but wished Disney would have continued the trend of songs within the movie. My daughter liked it but the fight scenes made her scared but overall we both liked the movie.

I have been excited for this movie, for what seems like a year now. I took my 6-year-old son on openening night. We both loved it. While it is a story about a princess, it is not a girly-pink-romance princess story. It is more about family, loving them for who they are, and living the lives we wish. That crosses gender.
It's a quick-moving story, funny, intense and emotional at all the right times.
My son did reach over the armrest and grab my elbow once. After the movie, he told me that it, "...maybe should've been rated PG-10" :-) So, you may want to hold back on the under-6 crowd, if they frighten easily.
I think it is the best Disney/Pixar movies since Cars.

Admittedly, I LOVE Pixar, but recently, I go to their movies cencerned that this one may be their first true flop. But, the folks from Everyville really hit this one out of the park!
I didn't realize until I was in the line at the theater that this is the first Pixar film with a female in the lead role. I have two daughters and this was especially important to me. The brilliant story dealt with Mother-Daughter issues brilliantly and so subtly that little girls might not get the gist today, but, over time this one will stay with them.
Great job, Pixar!!

Kids loved it. First time I was in a theatre where they applauded (the whole theater) at the end. My 7 yr. old said it was, 'the best movie [he] ever saw!"

I took my (sensitive) 7 year old daughter and my 4 year old son. My daughter cried and didn't want to watch the first big fight but was cheering them on in the final fight. She cried in Tangled when she went to see it for the first time in the movie theater. We own the movie now and have watched it more times than I can count. I say this to let parents know they should take their child's character into consideration before going to see this movie. I cried in some parts but that is my character.
I loved the movie. Merida made me realize that children will be children. Her mother showed me that it is our job to teach them...but to also listen to them. We don't have to give into their every need. But, we do need to listen and try to explain why in a caring way and not necessarily in the "because I said so" way.
I loved that they took a different spin on the fairy tale princess story to make it a teachable movie and not the typical "Love Story".
I love the Scottish ascent. The music was great. But, that is the type things I enjoy. Everyone is different...not wrong...just different.
Try not to be the adult reading too much into the movie and all the opinions from today's society. Let yourself be the kid again and enjoy the magic that Disney is trying to portray.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors

I am Scottish so I started out with expectations but was terribly disappointed. The accents were spot on. Merida was certainly her own person and the theme of the Movie fits the times we live in. Parents and children not really listening to each other, children thinking they know better with such little experience, something horrible happening before both parent and child come to their senses. Story was weak and could have been so much more entertaining. Chic movie, won't be one of the kids favorites. Pixar missed the mark.

Cons story underdeveloped

This is a great movie to see withthe family. But its definitely a different story than I was expecting. The animation is great and a must see.

This was a wonderful movie. Took both daughters 9 & 15, each liked it for different reasons. The message was one we all loved!!! It was geat to see the Princess not getting the guy!!

This movie has everything you would expect from a Disney movie. This new princess is adorable and you love her from the beginning. A good story with some humor and a feel good ending make this one worth the watch. Lets hear it for the redheads!!
