this was up for best picture and it won!!!it also won with me and my wife.a must buy when it comes out on dvd or blue-rey.one excellent movie the whole family should see!!loved it and the acting excellent.a history i never knew and now i am the more richer for this they should make more like this..a must see!!!yes there is strong languages but overall not so bad.

The acting in this movie was superb. Colin Firth is such an accomplished actor - and to portray a character who can't speak in public showcases his skills like no other movie could. The story is compelling and this movie is one that will certainly stand the test of time.

I wanted to see this movie because I enjoy Geoffery Rush's acting. I read the reviews on this site and one other, so I had high hopes going in. I must say that it was better that I had even hoped it would be. Some of the reviews I read cited the language content and there was some very vulgar language, but it was pretty much all contained in one scene. If you sneezed, you would have missed most of it. Some say it could have been left out, and I would have to agree. It may be more accurate that it was included, but I think the point would have been made without it and the rating could have been PG.
I was impressed by the acting done by each cast member and I cannot wait to add this one to my collection when it comes out on disc.

As a speech-language pathologist I can tell you that Collin Firth's performance was stellar! Helen Bonham Carter was absolutely incredible as well. However, I do believe that the "speech therapist" stole the movie with his performance. The movie was much more than about stuttering, however, and told a rich and wonderful story. Don't miss it!
