What a great performance by both Firth and Rush. I agree it doesn't deserve an R rating. Colin Firth's performance was so real, it was painful just to watch the agony King George must have gone through just to speak. He had the throat motions and jaw muscles down perfect. I would highly recommend this movie. It was moving, with comedic touches ,a true story of the human condition that none of us have it all, and affliction can strike any of us no matter our family background.

This is the best movie I've seen in years! Excellent script, tight editing, and stellar performances. The R rating is pretty silly; the only thing "R" about it is a scene with a liberal use of profanity, all to make a point rather than for shock effect. It's actually a funny scene, and while the words may offend the most sensitive, it is a lot less offensive than most R films with their heavy quotient of sex and/or violence or grim subject matter. It's more like the effect of a George Carlin comedy number: pretty inoffensive, I thought.

It is easy to find yourself living through a historical time where expectations on royalty was changing rapidly. We went because we like Colin Firth, and his performance did not disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised that the entire movie and all the actors were of the same high quality.

It's highly enjoyable to see such a well-acted movie giving us a glimpse of the royal family of England in the turbulent events of the 1930's. Wasn't really interested in watching this movie until I saw some of the reviews and nominations for best picture. I am very glad that I did.
While it was hard to watch the King's stammer, when it came time to address the country of having to enter WWII, you had a sense of pride that he was able to overcome his speech impediment. It was a journey through the adult life of a King and his trust, which needed to be hard earned, to an Australian speech specialist.

I wasn't sure I wanted to see it or not, but I'm certainly glad I did. While it was painful to watch the King fight to get his words out, it was a excellent "feel good" movie. The characters were charming and easy to like. The costumes were gorgeous and the scenery spectacular. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to be entertained by great story telling.

This wasn't what I had originally expected, it was much better, the dialogue between the King and Lionel (gives too much away if I address Lionel by his function) This would be a good movie for younger kids ONLY if they have a learning disability, was only 1 point when the movie seemed drawn out but that 10 minutes window is quickly overshadowed. This movie was great, kept me interested and the main characters were very convincing. I couldn't stop talking and discussing the movie and when I got home I Googled the characters and the history even further. That's what a great movie is supposed to be about.

I was so surprised with this movie. The reviews and nominations had warranted this a great movie, but the entire length of duration kept me captivated and educated on the history of Britain as well the obstacles King George 6 had to tackle. I look forward to watching again when it comes to Pay Per View.
