This movie satisfied on every level -- acting, story, entertainment, historical accuracy, enlightening, transports you to another time. Don't be put off by the R-rating, which is about one scene in which the king is encouraged by his coach to unleash a string of swear words to break his stutter. We took our 12-year-old and found it perfectly appropriate for her.

The sensitivity and extraordinary acting of all in this movie will merit this Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and perhaps even Best Film. This is an entrancing story of a King who was forced into his position by a brother who chose sex over honor, and abdicated the throne. The painful attempt to cure his stuttering (successfully) makes for an edge of your seat experience. Applause at the end of this film in my theatre was highly justified!

if other movies were as good as this one I would go to the theaters more often. This movie has a story to tell and good acting. Didn't have to watch peple being blown up, hear deafening sound effects etc. An interesting film that my husband and I equally enjoyed.

This movie was simply magical. I wanted the story to go on and on. Colin Firth was exceptional but Geoffrey Rush stole the show. Masterfully directed, there was never a moment or a scene that didn't deliver to the audience. I am sure that I will see this film over and over again.

The King's Speech was an entertaining movie, and from what I can tell, a mostly accurate depiction of King George VI. I was very impressed with Colin Firth's acting, and his ability to replicate the stutter that caused the King such trouble. I listened to a recording of the real king's wartime speech that Colin Firth gave at the end of movie and was further amazed at Firth's acting skills. In addition, all of the other cast members were very talented and entertaining, including the speech therapist Logue, the king's wife (played by Helena Bonham Carter), Edward, and Wallis. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who is interested in watching movies with substance - a rare find this days. :)

This movie respects both the subject, King George VI, and us, the audience. The movie appealed to me because of Colin Firth and to my 19-year old who, afterward, pointed out all the artists who had also worked on the Harry Potter films. This is an interesting and astonishing story about Queen Elizabeth's father, King George VI. If it is accurate, it is an uplifting situation of a man overcoming a strong psychologically-caused disability. Colin Firth's acting is truly exceptional. Everyone else is wonderful, too, but for Geoffrey Rush it should have been easier as he has portrayed similar characters before. The movie is a "don't miss."

If you appreciate brilliant acting from an outstanding cast in an historical movie about a little known (outside of England) aspect of the early life of King George VI , who succeeded his brother, Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne of England for the woman he loved, twice divorced Wallis Simpson of Baltimore, Maryland, than "The King's Speech" is your cup of tea. I have a newly found admiration for the late King George VI, father of the present reigning Queen Elizabeth II, and for Colin Firth's excellent portrayal of the King. Also, the wonderful portrayal of Lionel Logue, the speech therapist, by Geoffrey Rush. The entire cast was excellent. I highly recommend this movie and expect it to be the recipient of many Golden Globe, SAG and Academy Awards!!!

Toughing out the long lines and limited seating was unpleasant but instantly forgotten once the film was underway. We were among a diverse audience that seemed to unanimously unite with spontaneous applause and laughter, and yes sympathy for this would-be King and his terror of public speaking. In the lines exiting the film the chatter was also unanimous - great film - fabulous directing - wonderful actors - beautiful story. People were stopping to inform the next long line that they were getting their money's worth and certainly worth the wait. I'll see it again!

This is truly one of the best films I've ever seen. The cast is brilliant; the story is touching and true; the direction and cinematography is remarkable. Colin Firth is indeed one of the finest actors alive today. Jeffrey Rush gives his typically perfect performance. Running out of adjectives. Run to the theatre. I will see this one again and again.

This movie is thoroughly engaging . It is full of love and depth of character and is truly a wonder to watch and to share in the coming into being of a great man. The acting is superb by all the actors and I feel academy awards are warranted.
