The trailer looked interesting. The story was riveting. Colin Firth and Geoffery Rush were superb. For a non-stutterer (Colin) to portray a future king with a very bad stutter shows just how good an actor he is. This is his finest movie to date. He deserves the Oscar. I usually watch comedies, especially animation, so seeing a drama is out of my normal viewing habits, although I enjoy seeing anything about the British royalty. This movie blew me away.

Like The Queen before it, The King's Speech provides a human look at a British royal family. It's an inspirational story and can be enjoyed by everyone. The "R" rating is ridiculous, it's only because of the four-letter words Firth and Rush use in the therapy sessions.

I had seen The Kings Speech in Toronto and have been telling friends and relatives that they would love this movie when it got out to the whole country. Last night I watched it again. It was even better the second time. You feel so much compassion for this man who has the weight of the world on him and is so frustrated by his speech impediment. This was the perfect way for us to spend the afternoon of Christmas in Arizona before going out to dinner. This is a marvelous movie that is well worth seeing for a second time. The acting by all of the stars was superb. The story was both touching and humorous. Colin Firth portrayal is his finest performance to date. Geoffrey Rush was perfect. Helena Bonham Carter was charming. It is my considered opinion that this movie is the best movie made in the past ten (10) years if not more.
