TC was probably in the mood to up his bank account and nothing more. This was a plotless action thiller with true predictable thrill all the way through. I would rate it a 5 out of 10. The car he drove was the only exciting thing in the movie. I was lucky I did'nt fall asleep.

I like Cruise and I loved the previous MI movies. Good action sequences but that did not make up for almost no plot. We learn nothing about the bad guy and his motivation. This needed a lot more character development on the bad guy. Wait for DVD if you want to see this.

Mission Impossible's movie stories have difficult burdens. They have to be complex so that the team displays creativity beyond that of a normal spy group. They have to provide twists that demand improvisation from the group. Then they have the usual demands of emotional invovlement between the audience and the characters and be visually and viscerally exciting.
As a result, Mission Impossible moves are demanding upon the actors and the directors.
All of these demands are met and exceeded in this outing of Mission Impossible.
Brad Bird's time at Pixar seems to have given him the tools to put the characters against visual backdrops that are literally jaw-dropping, which is the job of an animation director. Who could have known that he could have helped the actors connect with each other and their inner-depths that put humans where action movie figures had been.
Lest you dread a character-driven movie where an action movie should be, the action scenes are plentiful and brilliant, from large-scale explosions that you've seen in the trailer to physical hand-to-hand combat.
Tom Cruise reaches beyond the usual squinting bravery that he used in this character before and shows heart. Yep, it was a surprise to me too.
Jeremy Renner proves ready to have his own franchise, although we'll have to wait for him to show his lovable-side.
Simon Pegg manages to take the Tom Arnold side-kick role and put a human in there.
Paula Patton has range as well as beauty going for her.
Go. This is one you'll have to see on the big screen.

This is a good action movie with a decent amount of humor, and it's at least semi-intelligent. While it's not a great film, it is worth seeing. Better than the majority of junk of there in the theaters.

Someone needs a new writer! A film that looked fantastic, had great special effects, terrific actors and a banal predictable plot.
It should have been a fun action filled romp and instead became a snooze-fest. [Spoiler] as the missiles plunge to earth with only 30 seconds left - there was no risk at all that the moment would not be saved by our IMF team.
Sadly in the absence of a decent story line the silly over the top action does not seem to work. TC scaling the world's tallest building in a pair of kitchen gloves with batteries was really idiotic. Oh, and God bless BMW for dropping one of their cars front first for what was claimed to be 100 mtrs, the air bags must be good! Nothing more than a moments pause for our hero.
Probably worth waiting for the DVD.
Sad.

I was disappointed with the quality of script. There was plenty of action but it did not make up for the poor dialogue & acting. It was actually quite dull compared to the original. I would wait until its a rental & save the money. Not Tom Cruise's best work by any means.

I like Simon Pegg, I really do. But the comic releif provided was common, predictable and a poor distraction for a weak script. I can see why Tom is spending alot of time doing promo's - the movie doesn't really hold up well by itself. --> wait for the DVD!

Tom Cruise knows how to deliver great action films, no doubt about it.
While watching some of the sequences, I found myself holding my breath they were so intense. This is the best white knuckle ride I've ridden since the chase scenes in The Matrix Reloaded.
I believe this action spy series is destined to be a classic.

I loved this movie and consider myself a bit of a critic. (Hated Descendants with George Clooney.) It held our attention for the full 2 hours and was full of action. You could see this movie another 2 or 3 times and still see something new because of its fast pace. I love Tom Cruise and have loved all the Mission Impossibles. Go see it; you won't be disappointed.

Other than the first of this series, I'd not been a fan of the MI films. This latest, however, is leagues ahead of any of its predecessors. Tom Cruise has matured well and the man in Ghost Protocol is much more interesting, dimensional, and appealing than the slightly manic boy we've grown accustomed to. The addition of Simon Pegg as the somewhat neurotic and earnest computer wonk significantly elevates the movie's entertainment value. Of course, it must be the Russians, cold war or no cold war, and the grandness of the match is inevitably winning, as are the gorgeous sets.
From beginning to end, Ghost Protocol is a fantastically suspenseful and entertaining ride. Just what you want in a night out at the movies.

Simon Pegg was entertaining- the rest of the cast was pretty useless and bland-Paula Patton needs classes on changing her expressions.

This is a great addition to the MI franchise. Lots of action backed up with a good story. The writing is a little clunky at times, and the acting occasionally seems forced, but overall this is a fun thrill-ride. And Tom Cruise has never looked better!

I took my 14 year old son. We had the.best.time.PERIOD! Nothing like spending quality time with your kid while doing something you both enjoy. The movie was exciting without all the sexual content and explicit language. Great soundtrack too. LOVED IT!
