I like the movie very much. I've been a Star Trek fan for almost 37 years. This movie was very good but....and it is a very minor but.....I was looking forward to a totally new story not a remake of "The Wrath of Khan". It isn't exactly a remake but Khan is in it.
I want to see a totally new story next time. But it was very good and now that I've seen it in a standard theater I'll probably go see it in 3D next.

Cons khan instead of a new character

This was a great movie. The special effects were awesome and the actors did a great job. This movie has it all- effects, action, humor (laughed a lot) and even has a bit of drama.. all done in a way that is true to the original franchise in a new and exciting way. Very excited about this movie and hoping for a third one.

This movie delivered on all points!! Great action. I was on the edge of my seat. Some interesting, well-placed twists and turns in the story. It had all the great series and movie references and tag lines for the ture Treky. Wish they had done more with the Klingons, but maybe they're saving that for #3. All in all, as good as, if not better than the first. Will see it again!!

The new Star Trek franchise has done a great job of making the story fresh, while maintaining a believable link to the original TV series and earlier movie franchise. Tying all of the old chararcters into the new movie brought back such vivid memories of the TV series and movies.
I don't want to give any spoilers, but if you liked the first movie in this new franchise, you'll like this one too.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, great mix of nostalgia

I was a huge fan of Abram's first STAR TREK and had high hopes for INTO DARKNESS. Unfortunately, my expectations weren't quite met. Maybe they were just set too high. It was visually spectacular and well acted, but the story was just too derivative. I don't understand the need to remake the original series with a new vision. The first film felt like it was trying to do something new with the franchise and this one feels like it is trying to pay homage to STAR TREK II: WRATH OF KHAN while doing a disservice to itself in the process. Worth a viewing indeed, but don't let the hype get you or you may be a bit disappointed. I was.

Though this movie was very entertaining and some of the lines amazingly smart, I was disappointed that they retold a story already shown. Khan, the villain is now British, he was Latin in the original series and Wrath of Khan was brilliantly played, but predictable. Scenes I've seen before but with a different person in danger and a furry creature that was not discovered until the Enterprise was on its 5 year mission will bother STar Trek fans. The flight scene between the two ships was way too long, every thing else moved well, especially since the audience knows neither person will die. It is an enjoyable film and if Star Trek fans can get past the "I've seen that before moments" you will enjoy the film.

This movie does a great job of not only standing on its own but also appeasing the fans who have watched this show since the beginning. I thought this movie was well done and the cast continues to deepen their characters in this second installment of the latest Star Trek. One thing I am enjoying is the altered-reality version of history that is played out since the return of 'old spock'. My 10-year old son had some trouble keeping up with it but for someone with any history on the original series show this is awesome.

JJ Abrams continues to demonstrate why he is one of the very best in the business.
I went into this movie a bit apprehensive about whether it could be as good as his Star Trek first movie.
I loved the major character development. All of the major characters had had flaws and were "real" and their personalities brought forth.
The adversary is just down right pure evil and very formidable to the entire fleet! It was great.
For me - this movie was not predictable - I could not anticipate upcoming twists and turns.
This is one of the few movies I might have to go back and see again in the theater.

Really enjoyed this movie. Great story, lots of action. Love the way the director wove parts of the "Wrath of Khan" into the script. The inclusion of tribbles was priceless. Watching the relationship between Kirk and Spock grow into the tight knit team we all know made it more fun to watch. I recommend this movie.

I'm a big Star Trek fan and really enjoyed the last one. But I felt they could of done a better job with who the villian was in the movie. Once you figure out who it is, all I could do was shake my head. Storyline could of been better. Acting and special effects were great!

This movie exceeded my expectation from the last movie. It kept the special effects, sound, dialogue, and actiing excellent! Just an amazing movie. I love the way a serious Sci-Fi can create tense and comic moments. Great job "Bad Robot" - Great job! :-)

I'm usually the guy you see at the end of a Star Trek movie arguing about facts in the movies. Ignore what some of these people are saying- if you saw the last movie, it's an alternate timeline, and anything goes! I'll admit, when I found out who the enemy was I was slightly disappointed, but then the movie takes a few very nice unexpected turns... Go ahead and watch Wrath of Khan before seeing this movie, and it'll hit you even harder... There are also little fact bits from Deep Space Nine and Enterprise if you look for them... I've seen every episode from every Trek series, and this was a great movie, for fans new and old!!!
