For any fan of the original series and movies, you'll be entertained from beginning to end in another time twisting, inside out take on the crew of the Enterprise and it's adventures. My teenaged son and his friends thought it was incredible and they're not versed in the original, so it seems to work for everyone.

As an older guy who has seen every original series episode, I sincerely thought the movie was fantastic! Special effects were just amazing as well. I didn't bother with the 3D version. 2D suited me just fine. I know there are a lot of purists out there that like to nit pick every little thing about what they think the movie "missed' or got wrong, but I'm the type that can enjoy a movie for what it is. And I just loved the way all the actors portrayed their characters. It's tougher for them, because the original actors developed their own character, whereas these new actors have to try and match the original. And I think they did a super job! I will probably go back and see it again while still at the theaters.

Liked the way Kirk dies like Spook did... same set up. Liked the way this KAHN copied just enough of the original Wrath of Kahn plot line. As I said, there were a lot of "insider" sub story lines that a Trekie would appreciate.

Lots of action, some odd moments as well. There seemed to be either a whole lotta deference to the original series, or lack of new ideas, hopefully the former. Wife was disappointed that there was so much repetition of old themes- in her view. But, if you're a Trekkie- and by the ratings it appears most who went to see this are- you'll enjoy the flic.

LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! I love the re-invention of the Star Trek universe. This opens the door to so many new possibilities. Looking forward to #3. One other note: While waiting for the movie to start, I started thinking about "REBOOTS", remaking a movie from the past. Some don't give us anything new and I have NO DESIRE to see them. Granted, I'm a diehard Star Trek fan, so I would have seen it anyway... but this "reboot" has totally made it worth my while and as a known cheapskate, I'm willing to pay to see it again in the theatre!! Great job by all parties involved, thank you for a wonderful movie!!

The characters were spot on and after all, half of the fun of Star Trek is the interplay of all the characters. Of course the special effects were great and in many ways this was even better than the first movie in the reboot. I can't wait to see the next 5 (Years 1-5 of the 5 year journey)!

I was literally on the edge of my seat during the duration of this movie. The special effects of the movie was amazing. I love how they captured the love Captain Kirk and Spock have for each other. I laughed, cried, and scream like a little school girl. Love this movie.

I really enjoyed the first Star Trek reboot a few years ago. As a fan of the original series, I was skeptical at first, but thrilled they pulled it off. Not so with this one however. Despite the actors once again doing a good job of recreating the original characters, this movie is a mess. Worst of all is the scene where they recreate Spocks death scene from The Wrath Of Khan, only reversed. (Spoiler alert) And the Kirk/Spock respect for each other thing is done one too many times. They did everything but make out. Maybe in the next movie, if their is one. If your a simple minded movie fan that only likes video game special effects, you might like this. But Trek fans will know that this film is an early summer turkey. Bummer.

Great action with some twists; however, some scenes seem borrowed from other movies (notably Star Wars or Independence Day). The touch points back to the original time line (with, for example, role reversals) are fun. I do feel the story line was really too close to a TNG episode [spoiler alert] where an admiral makes an alliance that is morally wrong and pays the ultimate price, but not before many innocent people are harmed. Of course such deals with the devil are a mainstay of literature over the centuries...
Overall, one of the better in the Star Trek arc. You could see the original "bones" in the performance by Karl Urban. Anton Yelchin and John Cho are good as Chekov and Sulu respectively. While Simon is OK as Scotty, I see no need for him to have a sidekick. Did Paramount need another "action figure" to license or was this just for comic relief?

After reading some of the reviews that were posted here and in other places, we went to the see the movie with skepticism. The skepticism was unwarranted because the movie was excellent. True to the Star Trek movies and TV show that we enjoyed when we were younger. One hint; for those of you who have never seen Star Trek II, watch it before seeing this movie. The only con, was it was a little slow in one spot, but it quickly took off from there.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors

Enjoyed the first of this latest series of prequals, but this one just seemed clumsy and haphazard. The painful gaps in good storytelling were filled with gratuitous fight scenes which made the general flow of the movie all the more awkward. The actors turned in reasonably good performances but just could not make up for the poor storyline.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

My wife had not really seen the first movie and it left some questions as to the character traits. But we both really enjoyed the 3D effects especially the native spears in the begining. Yes we will be going again.

A very entertaining movie that can stand alone.
For a Trekker, the alternate timeline of this reboot is somewhat disorienting. That being said, it was interesting how core events from many previous movies and episodes were brought into a coherent story.

Very disappointing. They must think we Star Trek followers have a very poor memory by introducing Kahn into the story line far before it happened in the original series. The worst part was stealing the ending to The Wrath of Kahn. Come on. Terrible.
