Fun and engaging film. Good for families, starts off a bit dark and there is one violent human fight scene, but other than that it is good clean fun, there is almost no cursing, if any, in the movie. I would recommend this film to enjoy with your family.

Thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Lots of heart, and lots of action. Dakota Goyo and Hugh Jackman were a great father/son team, even when they were fighting. Evangeline Lilly showed that she can be more than the annoying character Kate from "Lost". It left me with a big smile on my face!

My 10 year-old son chose this movie. I imagined it would be horrible and I could use the time to nap. What a surprise I was in for, this was a great movie! For 2 hours we were both entertained and cheering for the characters. I highly recommend this movie, it was one of the best I have seen in a long time.

I took my young son to see this movie, and I don't understand its PG-13 rating. Aside from a little language (you can count the "bad words" on two hands) and violence (95% of which is robot-on-robot), it is a perfect movie for little boys.
We cheered Atom (the main robot "character"), along with the rest of the audience. I also liked the fact that it wasn't a storybook ending. My hunch: Expect a Real Steel 2.

Forget what you think from the trailer. Forget how completely stupid the premise sounds. If you're a dad or grandpa or uncle, take the boy and go. You will both have a great time. It's Rocky as a robot but it sucks you in and the damn thing works. Cast is great, across the board. Action is terrific. And yes, it will actually tug at your heart a bit. Well done, and a well deserved hit.

The basic premises of the movie is tried and probably worn out. But it is done very well. The CGI in the movie is very hard to tell. The father, son story is also done well. This is one of the rare movies where you could see it happening in real life. I also like the ghost in the machine story thread as well. I am willing to forgive the movie makers for breaking their own physics rules in the last fight. (go watch it and then we can fight about it if you want.)

My fiance is a huge boxing fan, so we headed to the movies to see real steel. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the movie had exciting boxing scenes, and a realistic display of human emotion. As usual Hugh Jackman played his role phenomenally and the child actor also was fun to watch. I would watch the movie again. Although I wish they didn't try to make the boy seem as if he pulled that 2 ton robot up a deep and steep hill by himself. That wasn't believable at all. Still a great movie and one the entire family could see too. If you like boxing you would like this movie... it teaches you that boxing is more than strength and power but technique as well.

This was a must see movie! Now granted i saw this film at a D-box seat, Which added to the sensation. But this one was a real shocker. I almost have to question the reviews by parents that went for their kids, Not really watching or getting this movie. It is not just a movie about boxing robots. This film had an underlayer for all ages. Particulaly the Father-Son Drama throughout the film. I think i actually teared up for this one, And i tell you this is rare! Hugh jackman played the kind of role that fits him displaying his personality with this character and did a wonderfull job as allways. Our other supporting role was led by a new young actor that captured both the attention and emotions both young and old of audiences. My kid's loved it, with what you expect to see in a film about modern remote control boxing robots. But there was also alot of material that connected with an older person like myself. Now i will go out there and say like many other parents that there is alot of PG-13 undertones that make it a movie for what the rating suggest. However the movie buff in me just cant come to words about how enjoyable from many angles this was to see. Real Steel Has Action, Drama, Mild-Violence, Mild Language, a bit of hidden romance. But even more I tcarries the relation of What we go through in life And the people that gave us what we needed to get there. With that, i cant give you any spoilers. You'll just have to go and see for yourself. You wont be disapointed!

The movie was consistent meaning that it held my attention. The story line of a child teaching the adult the life lesson was good. A lot of people compare it to Transformers but I don't agree. This movie was not action backed, rather it gave you just enough to get the point across.

I really enjoyed this movie as long as you understand what it is... a boxing movie with robots. Think Rocky, David and Goliath... It's not an Academy Award winner if that's what you are looking for, but if that's what you are looking for, why are you going to a robot boxing movie? Took 6 boys ages 8-14 and they all loved it. No sex... very little bad language and what there is is uttered by the young boy, so it's funny. The young kid is truly AWESOME and Hugh Jackman is.... Hugh Jackman! Not much wrong with that! This is a very entertaining and engaging movie. The visuals are great. Hugh Jackman is very good, as usually. The kid is good too.
There are some sappy, gooey Spielberg moments I could do without, but since the movie was light on propaganda, I guess I can live with it.

I absolutely loved this movie! Not only do you develop a connection with the main characters of this film but you do with the robots as well! I laughed and cried in parts of this movie and would highly recommend it to anyone!

Jackman plays a deadbeat father who gets stuck with a son he hasn't seen in a decade in this movie about futuristic robot fighting. This movie has it all! Great story, characters you'll easily care for, and a ton of action. I went to see it just for fun, but got blown away by the effects and the story.

B- that would be the overall rating. Great fight movie...but alot of long dramatic moves lost to my younger kids. A very long movie giving the two hour time frame. I would say the younger crowd would have liked to see more fighting and less talking...esp in the final fight. Maybe over editing at its best in the end and no too much editing(which it needed) in the middle of the movie..just saying...
