The Company Men was more than just a movie reminding us how ruthless corporate America can be. Regardless of whether you lost your job during the recession, you can walk away form this movie with some lessons.
Bobby Walker (Ben Affleck),and his adorable wife Gail (Rosemarie DeWitt) and their children portray how a loving, supportive family can make it through a crisis. While other dysfunctional families crumbled all around them, Bobby and his family made necessary sacrifices as they survived the recession intact.
There are other messages one can take away form this movie beyond what it takes (love) for a family to thrive in any kind of environment. Your economic status will no doubt alter your view about what this movie means to you.
If you are predisposed to use alcohol or sex as a crutch to get through life, maybe - just maybe you might see yourself in this movie. Or perhaps your significant other will? See ya!!

This is a very good movie,,,not my FAVORITE, but very good. At times it made me mad to see the selfishness materialism of some of the characters, but it just shows you how anything and everything you have can be gone in a second or two. It teaches you what is important in life. Good acting. Worth seeing.

Thoughtful and timely. Reflects major changes in comerce and society with a well composed story and a amazing cast. Close enough to be personal and broad enough to tell the story of today. Kudos to John Wells, the featured actors and Cady Huffman for presenting the present reality.

I thought the movie was very honest about what's happening in America today. Companies lay employees off and their stock price goes up. CEO's are making millions while thousands of workers lose everything they have. The script was excellent and all the actors did a wonderful job of portraying all the emotions that go along with losing your job and potentially losing everything.
This movie should be a "must see" for all young middle management people who think they can't be touched by layoffs and downsizing. Excellent movie.

This one will leave you wondering why you wasted $35 for tickets and popcorn. It has a great cast, but a boring, poorly written script. So many areas of the movie could have wonderful stories, like the relationship with his unbelievably great son. He finally shoots some one-on-one basketball, and that is all we are given to show a rekindled relationship? I want my money back.

Overall: A good movie that most white collar families can relate to. Consistently undramatic on the verge of boring, but that is real-life. The acting of such a great cast keeps this from being a forgotten movie. The editing was weak.
Overall story line has many subplots (relationship complexities) that keep you involved.
Could be a rental must, but less impressive on the big screen.
