I wasn't expecting much walking into this but I could not have been more wrong in my expectations. While it may look cliche and predictable, Warrior holds its own as an original film. Gavin O' Connor's previous films (Miracle, Pride and Glory) bordered mediocrity, but he truly crafted something special with this movie. You would do yourself a huge favor by not missing out on this one. It really has something for the whole family to enjoy.

This movie brings out a variety of emotions and leaves you wanting more. The acting and the story itself were fantastic! Evan an hour after leaving the theater, your mind and your emotions are rolling. Would see many times over for the MMA the 'story' the lesson etc. Wonderful! When I first heard about this movie I was instantly hooked because of the MMA fighting angle. So I decided last night to check it out, and from beginning to end I was hooked, the drama between father and sons, brother vs. brother, present vs. past.
I won't lie the performance given by Tom Hardy was simply phenomenal. Playing the younger brother who comes back home after leaving his abusive father with his mother, a stint in the Marines, this man had some demons inside of him and fighting was the only way he knew to channel his anger. Throw in the mix a brother he hasn't seen in 14 years and the animosity he has towards him, you have a wonderful recipe for in my opinion an Academy nomination for Best Picture, Best Actor (Tom Hardy) & Supporting Actor (Nick Nolte).
Nick Nolte turned out one hell of a role as the father who is trying to show his kids he is trying to get his life on track, but there is one scene in the movie where he has a setback that even moved me to tears. Its is just that wonderful. Trust me the action is plenty in this movie but you will be so wrapped up with the drama and story back line with these characters, you won't need for anything else.
Honestly this has been one of the best movies I have seen in a LONG time, this type of movie reminds me why I don't mind spending 11 bucks. Go see it for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

This a drama first, and action/fight movie second. Neither my wife nor me have any interest in MMA or any of this type of fighting, but we read the reviews and knew that we would enjoy Warrior. We were not disappointed at all! The acting was phenomenal! The characters had so much pain bottled up inside them for so long and you could feel them let loose. Nick Nolte had another Oscar worthy performance. I'm guessing that more viewers aren't going to see this based on thinking its a fight movie. Big Mistake! Go see it!

This movie was absolutely incredible! Everything about it was wonderful and exciting, and I think it offers a little something for everyone. Tom Hardy is a far better actor than I think most people realize, but it shows through quite well in this movie.
I didn’t know initially that it was set by and large in the industrial parts of Pennsylvania (where I grew up), so that was a great surprise, and the setting works very well for the plot. (As a side note, it also takes place in Atlantic City, which is a fairly popular destination for Pennsylvanians.)
Consequently, Hardy takes on an incredibly accurate Pennsylvanian dialect (as do some of the other characters), which is worth noting when you consider that he’s British. He also put on tons of muscle (though this is neither the first nor the last time he’ll do so for a role). More interestingly, he did all of the fighting himself, breaking several ribs and a toe and injuring his hand. Regardless, all of his fighting scenes seem perfectly natural, same as with his voice, emotion, and everything else about the character.
I didn’t think I would like much of the movie because I have zero interest in mixed martial arts, but the acting, character back stories, and emotional strife weaved throughout (along with an occasional humorous note and the ridiculous, heart-wrenching ending) make it sensational.
If you’re a Hardy fan, you absolutely have to see this movie right away. If you’re not, you’ll probably still like the film, and you may very well become a fan afterward.

Warrior: I would have preferred a boxing movie, but I must admit that I really enjoyed this one. It had a lot in common with the Rocky movie. Like Rocky, it has a slow developing plot. Like Rocky, the wife of the good guy refused to watch him fight in the beginning. Like Rocky, somehow a couple of fighters happened to get a shot at the title without really earning it, including the star. And, of course, like Rocky, the big villain was a seemingly invincible Russian fighter. Furthermore, if you follow typical movie ethics, the outcome should not be a surprise to you either, as those ethics would clearly dictate who the winner will be before the final fight is ever fought. Even so, the movie had the same magic that both Rocky and Cinderella Man had. I’d recommend it to all fight lovers and I gave it 4 stars, or 8 out of 10.

Excellent movie. Good story line, emotional, mostly realistic MMA scenes except for ending as I don't believe the ref would have allowed the fight to continue with one fighter having a dislocated shoulder. I've been a MMA fan for a long time and had a son-in-law who fights in the cage so had a personal interest in this movie. Again, I liked it a lot and would watch it again.

A great movie. Very interesting even if you don't particularily like cage matches and stuff like it. You felt the emotions and the acting was great. It was a little rough but there was a lot of pain in their family. I like how it all came together and the tournament was pretty exciting. The ending was good but you wanted more and some loose ends to be wrapped up but it was still a great movie and emotional one too.

The movie was great, accurate fight scenes and build up to the fight. The only disappointment was within the ending....it left me wondering what will happen now. Still a great movie to check out!

This movie wasn't the best I had ever seen and slow at points. Developing of the characters slow the story and the talking between characters gave an awful feeling at times. The acting was good, delivering of the story was complete though I had ?? at the end.

Viewed 'Warrior', after convincing my wife that it would be more than a simple fight-movie. Both were pleasantly surprised at how well-done the movie was; mixing the fight scenes with real-life drama that each of us may currently be experiencing. Well worth the price of admission and I would recommend this movie to everyone; I believe it would even be placed one notch above last year's movie 'The Fighter.'
