I like Chris Nolan's work. I loved Dark Knight. I know he lovingly spent 160M on this thing. I know he spent 10 years thinking about it. And I think he 'overthunk' it. It is, to paraphrase Chuchill, "An riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma." The dream conceit is so convoluted that I got the feeling even the actors didn't know what the hell was going on. At one point, some character says, "Wait, whose subconcious are we leaping into now?" I had no idea either and frankly by that point didn't care. I kept imagining someone sitting by the fireside trying to tell me this story verbally--impossible. And that's the problem here: when you can't tell the beginning from the middle from the end, you don't have a story. You have...stuff. Glitzy, cinematic, loud, flashy....stuff.

This movie is fantastic! The story is complex and makes you think. The actors were great and took me for a wild, tense and thrilling ride. I cared about what happened to them. i think most people will say it was "pretty good" after seeing this because you leave the theater a bit confused. we were trying to make sense of the storyline well after the movie ended. the action scenes were very exciting and the visual effects were beautiful, and the acting was very good too. it just seems like in order to tie in the loose ends one would need to see it at least twice and for me, sitting through 2.5 hrs of a movie is hard enough the first time. would definitely recommend though!

The IMAX experience was awesome (its a bigger screen and has better effects). But make sure you arrive atleast 15 mins early and get good seats in the topmost rows and somewhere in the middle for the max effect. Movie was good..It requires active participation -so if you wanna go and chill out and not think-this movie is not the one..you'll have to catch each and every word and pay attention..or else,you wont be able to get back in!

The movie was just OK.
The real interesting thing about this experience was how bad the theatre was!
We were in the second row from the front because the place was so crowded 10 minutes before the film began.
We could see up the noses of the people on the screen!
I feel that the theatre ripped us off and the darn thing cost $15.50 for each ticket.
It was a rip off and I am not going back to an IMAX film again.

I agree with the reviewer that IMAX is overrated. Just seemed like a bigger screen to me, certainly not worth extra money (seeing as this title wasn't in 3D).
As for the movie, it was good. Not great, not bad. Overall, it didn't live up to the hype and possibilities. I was expecting something along the lines of a less sci-fi Matrix, but instead felt like I was watching a remake of Dreamscape and Flatliners rolled into one.
The movie drops you off in the middle of the plot, kind of like a dream, which in retrospect, without spoiling anything, was very likely intentional, but it does leave you scrambling to figure out what's going on from the get go, which I found a bit frustrating at times.
Overall, worth a watch, as long as you don't go expecting the movie of the decade.

This is one of those movies where if you fall asleep or get up to use the potty, you will be lost when you get back or wake up. Acting was 1st. rate and the story was GR8. My 1st. IMAX experience and was impressed, wish this movie had been shot in 3D though. All in all, I give this 5 stars and will see it again when released in Blu-Ray

The movie was easy to follow as far as time line and they did a good job with the layers of dreams. It's definitely one you'll have to watch more than once to pick up on certain things earlier. It reminded me a bit of Shutter Island in the sense of not knowing who to really believe... I can't wait to go see it again!! :)

This was my first IMAX in an AMC theatre and i really couldnt see any difference from other new releases. My expectation for an IMAX film is so much grander than the regular cinema theatre, so to me its not worth the extra expense.
This movie has intricate details that require quite a bit of mental focus to decipher, difficult to follow at times. Action is average throughout, though the snow castle scenes are more exciting.

The movie was awesome! it is a well written story that has layers of complexity. The acting was superb! I think the actors all deserve an Oscar. This movie requires you to pay attention and think. I must admit I was somewhat mentally exhausted at the end of the movie, but a good exhausted. I love this kind of movie where you haven't figured it all out 20 minutes into the movie. It's not a light entertaining movie. That said, I would highly recommend it to those that want to be challenged and intrigued. I'm still thinking about the movie and definitely plan to see it again.

When we arrived in the theater, there was approx. 20 people seated. That automatically thru up a red flag. --- I can only stand so many car crashes, gun fights, special effects, and philisophical BS. I went to the bathroom and should have headed to the exit. I thought the movie boring.

I would have watched this movie if it was LONGER. It takes a lot to pique my interest in sitting in a theater for 2 and half hours. The movie's suspense gave me the willies like I was on a roller coaster. I sometimes had to say, "Wait...who's dream am I in?"

I liked this movie. Good plot, characters, effects, and acting. You absolutely had to stay till the end to find out what happens or do you?

This movie was beyond fantastic. The storyline was engaging. Leo DiCaprio’s quest for redemption was believable. Marion Cotillard was haunting (no pun intended). Nolan proves he's ahead of other Hwood directors by succeeding in creating a film that's both intellectually challenging and action packed. The movie was NOT, as some people have mentioned, hard to follow. It was intriguing, cleverly written, and beautifully shot. It’s a film for people who like to use their heads for something other than sporting a hat, so if you’re not the brain-muscle-exercising type, do yourself a favor and opt for something that’s better suited for your intelligence level.
