Inception is a psychological action/drama/thriller with layers of complexity. The fundamental premise is interesting in and of itself: the nature of dreams - to what degree are they controllable? In the end, though, it's the way the movie expands on and brings this and other themes to life that's amazing and impossible to explain.
Great visuals and acting make Inception mostly believable, in a great-action-flick sort of way.
In a nutshell, it's a 2.5 hour action film that never feels dragged out. It's tense and harrowing, but not scary or sickening. It forces you to think, but not frustratingly so. It offers remarkable depth whilst avoiding paralyzing convolution.
All in all, this is a great show that I plan on seeing - and getting a lot out of - a second time.
**I don't regret indulging in "The IMAX Experience" for my first viewing, but haven't seen it at a standard theater yet to compare. As you might expect, the audio/visual was awesome at the IMAX theater.**

I have seen this movie 2 times once in a regular stadium theatre and once in IMAX. It's almost like seeing a totally different movie because of the special effects added to shifts in the dreams or breakdowns. I watch alot of movies and this one is one that I can't get enough of. Great story, interesting characters, very cool special effects, and a very original idea. The ending was great and this is a movie I tell everyone to go see when they ask me. Spend the extra few bucks and see this movie in IMAX it just takes it to the next level. When asked what it's like I can't think of another movie like it. It's like Matrix meets the Butterfly Effect. One of the top 10 movies I've ever seen.

A movie that can keep my attention from the very moment it hits the screen to the time of its credits is a movie well worth my time. Inception gave me all of that and more...hands down. A movie that I could watch over and over again and can hardly wait for it to arrive on DVD is also a movie well worth my time.... Inception delivered it. The movie is a very good interlayering of multiple screen plots and had both of my boys enthralled for the entire time. I am disappointed in the fact that in the windup to the movie there are R rated movies being trailered, Resident Evil and another "Devil" movie. These have content and themes that are not suitable for a PG-13 rated Movie. The actual movie ranked 4.5 stars.

It's a great movie, but pay attention closely. It's a real challenge to keep up with multiple storylines representing the dream states. Explanation of dream sharing "technology" is very believable and sounds scientifically valid. The movie is far more believable than most sci-fi. Acting is first rate.

This was a thrill ride from the opening moments - an experience made all the more visceral by the IMAX set-up. Some friends had seen it at the same theatre and kicked themselves when they realized they could have seen it with superior sound & visual clarity.
I'll admit to being wildly perplexed by the dreamscape narrative, but just took it all in until I put the missing strands together. I found myself smiling at the visual inventiveness, the James Bond on acid plot, the clever twists & turns.
One of the few movies I've seen recently that was actually creative as opposed to the formulaic remakes and tripe that clog up the screens these days.
Great performances all around.

Boy am I glad you asked...
This movie was sooooo painfully horribly loud that I DID NOT even make it through the preview section! As for the screen, there was no visible difference between a regular screen and an actual IMAX screen, which I've seen a few nature-themed movies on before and the picture was beautiful. My advice: turn this sh*& down, and provide the movie on a true IMAX screen!
Based on this I will NEVER again purchase "the IMAX experience" movie tickets without verifying that it's actually an IMAX experience and not a "horribly painful, ears bleeding from the sheer volume of the film" rip-off. Thank you.

The movie? Oh, that was good, not as confusing as reported. At it's center, behind the very special Special Effects it's a character driven story about lost love and family. My problem is that the extra $5 for the "IMAX experience", which apparently I overlooked, was a gigantic rip-off exceeded only by $7.50 for 10 cents worth of popcorn and $4.50 for a bottle of water. Yes, right, water! That is shamless!! I'm going back to putting a couple cans of beer in my pockets!
Why the extra money for the IMAX screen?? There was no perceivable difference!! Nothing at all like the IMAX theatre at Greenfield Village. There you are on the mountain with the climbers or on stage with Mick Jagger! I'll never revisit the IMAX at the AMC!! Not ever!

This film is one of Nolan's best, possibly beaten only by Dark Knight. It takes reasonable resources to fully grasp this film and follow what's happening. It even gives the braindead plenty of action to sate their thirst for explosions and chaos. But when you combine the two, action and intelligence, then you have one outstanding film. This film manages to accomplish both marvelously.
This is one of a very select few movies that I will own once it hits the home market.

While I'm sure this movie has its flaws, I found it to be one of the more refreshing films to watch. This was a bit of a thinking movie which I like, along with the action. Watched this in IMAX which made the whole experience even more exciting.

Saw this movie with the family; we all loved it, adults and teenagers alike. We saw this once in a regular theatre and then again in an IMAX theatre. The IMAX sound system really enhanced the experience, and the big screen was great too, since this is both a highly visual movie plus a tightly plotted one as well.
