This movie has 1 major flaw. There is no one to like. Not 1 character is a "good guy". Without anyone to root for, I didn't care if any of them died, or failed, or succeeded. So there was no real tension or drama, just plot.
It is an interesting premiss, but a too plodding and complicated story. I was restless through much of the film. It was far too long.
The effects were spectacular though, but that is not enough to make a good film.
Who knows, perhaps I will appreciate this film more after multiple viewings on cable.

The plot is a little ridiculous and the violence was unnecessary. It really makes you wonder how Hollywood makes the same old garbage over and over. How about a little creativity.

When the final credits rolled on this movie, you could hear the entire theater suddenly take a deep breath. No one realized they'd been holding their breath for two and a half hours. It's critical to pay attention to the dialog in order to understand what's happening during the extremely intense last thirty minutes. Mind blowing. Highly recommended for people who like a taut thriller that forces you to think.

The movie is a total mind bender but it's so well laid out that everything comes together in the end. Great cast and director. Also it's visually amazing and **SPOILER*** the ending leaves you with the decision to make up your own mind about what happened. Which is one of my favorite things in movies because then you're never disappointed.

Loved, Loved, Loved the IMAX experience.
As for "Inception":
The whole idea was very interesting.
The movie was well done and I love Leonardo DiCaprio.
But....., I just wonder how in the world someone thought of such...... Would not want to see a movie like that very often. Kind of upsetting and depressing.
Just loved the IMAX experience....
I look forward to seeing another movie at the IMAX theatre.

*SPOILERS*I knew from the first time I saw this trailer that I was going to love this movie. I was so hyped for it. And after possibly the worst year for movies in my lifetime, I was perhaps too hyped. So let me start out by saying that Inception is not a perfect movie and it's not better than the Dark Knight. That said, it is one of the most ambitious and smartest movies in recent years. It takes elements from films like Solaris, the Matrix, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Nightmare of Elm Street and blends them into a surreal and elegant new sci-fi thriller. It feels as epic as the dark knight and that's why it should really be seen in imax. Some things that I found to be flaws were things like the elevator scene. Really there is only one reason why that scene existed and it wasn't to push the story forward, it was so that they could have an anti-gravity action scene with an explosion. To be fair it was a cool enough scene that I am able to forgive it. In fact, it was probably the best fight scene in the whole movie, but it was really not something that was necessary and felt a bit crowbarred in there. My other main issue is Watanabe Ken. For some reason he is the only Japanese actor that gets roles in American movies. When he speaks Japanese I understand him fine, and when he speaks English in interviews I understand him too, but in movie roles he puts on this whispery hollywood-mystical, almost jackie chan-like generic asian accent, and it detracted so much from the film for me because I couldn't understand him about half of the time. Luckily, his dialogue wasn't terribly important, and I understood the point regardless of this flaw. Finally I had some issues that are unsettled in my head and I guess I'll have to watch the movie again to know whether or not this is a plot hole, but when he is in limbo with his wife, I don't understand how he could have performed an inception on her. Limbo seems to be the lowest level of consciousness. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me that he could have put them into a shared dream while trapped in limbo. My friend argued with me that they were not trapped in limbo, just in a regular shared dream, but in that case I don't understand why they were there for close to 50 years. So, I'm a little confused there. It's not something that ruins the movie nor something that makes you unclear about the ending or anything like that. So again, it's just a trivial little issue of mine. So what's left? Pure goodness if you ask me. All the performances were awesome. The premise was awesome. The CG, the sound engineering, Joseph Gordon Levitt... The best part might have been that ending. It was extremely tasteful to leave it open. Going one way or the other would have been equally arbitrary. This is the best ending they could have gone with. I was blown away. I'm sorry I'm not good at reviewing movies in a positive way, I'm better with criticism. The things I liked were kind of abstract. I like that they employ architecture into this. I liked when they asked Ellen Page to design the maze. I liked the fact that they didn't try to explain how the shared dream machine works. I liked that the different levels of consciousness were layered, and that there was a hyperbolic time shift like in Dragonball Z. I liked how symbolism, such as vaults were used effectively. You know, what it comes down to I think, is that lucid dreams are just about the coolest things ever, and they are depicted in such a way that they are both adequately explored, and also make sense, while being badass. The subject matter is really one of the coolest things a movie could ever possibly be about, and it was done so well that... if the negative takes away half of a star, then the positive aspects add 5 stars stars. and I give the movie a 4.5 out of 5.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Very interesting concept, with a "you're never bored" plot, solid directing and editing (visuals & sound), and nice acting. Both in dreamland and in reality this film was working on a number of levels, which made it interesting, but also weighed it down a bit. Toward the end there was almost too much going on to not feel slightly oversaturated with everything happening simultaneously, so I left the theater a bit exhausted. Nevertheless, it was a good 2.5 hr experience.

This is a gripping 2-1/2 hour movie, and worth it to pay extra for the IMAX experience. You'll need to pay attention, though, and don't leave for a restroom or popcorn break, or you'll get lost. But the last hour and a half leaves you breathless - the guy beside me was literally on the edge of his seat for the last hour!
The plot was deep and twisted, but yet had very few inconsistencies or unanswered questions.
Casting was fantastic - acting was great! It was the best overall movie experience my husband and I have had in the past 5 years.

I love this "FILM" it really is one of the Artistic Cinematograghic events of the decade.
It has all the elements that create an Artistic Master Piece.
The story line, Cast, Caracter Development, Visual Effects and a magnificent director able to transport his audience thru a thrilling and captivating ride.
I am a Leonardo Dicaprio fan and he owns my respect even more now for allowing his co-stars to shine on their own right and for teaming up with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I can't wait for more......

Unlike Memento, I won't need to watch it again just to try to understand, this movie was fun to watch and had some great tags (like the Edith Piaf music). Even though the plot, i.e., dream levels, is often confusing, it doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the visuals. Seeing movies in IMAX is cool. We enjoyed it a lot.

I haven't been this amazed by a movie since Matrix came out. The IMAX version had the high quality image and sound that you expect from an IMAX film. Christopher Nolan is a genius filmmaker and makes wonderfully complex films that engage the viewer's mind rather than require you to turn them off the way that some summer blockbusters do.

Inception is the latter IMO. It will, more than likely floor teens and twenty somethings. "The Best Movie EVER!!! types. God love them. This is not that movie. Good performances but no great ones. Clever story that is totally forgettable. Cool action and camera work but average CGI. Runtime really hurts it. A nice surprise is that Leo plays a pained, conflicted guy in this...err...never mind.

I was dubious about spending the extra 3 bucks (or so) for IMAX, but was so glad I did! I was at Century City, and the screen was indeed much larger, especially taller, and the picture was amazingly sharp and the sound was quite impressive too. Many movies you don't need this, but with Inception, I think it really enhanced the experience, and I've seen it BOTH ways. Which tells you how much I loved the movie, doesn't it?

Definitely will be in my top ten list for the year, and it's already my favorite sci-fi film since 'Abre Los Ojos,' (which was remade as the poor 'Vanilla Sky'). The film defines Nolan as the first truly 21st Century filmmaker who has successfully found a means to take arthouse sensibilities and blend them into mainstream motion pictures on an epic scale, with an immediacy that reflects the techonological world we live in today and will likely face tomorrow. Hardly a false note, and while some may nitpick at minor details in order to look for flaws in the construction, the script seems so refined by the low standards we see in the typical Hollywood dumbed-down fare, the perfomances so spot-on, and the visual direction so innovative and awe-inspiring, that this film will welcome multiple repeat viewings, as the audience works to pick up the most minute details to support their view of exactly what the whole endeavor truly means.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
