If you want a mind blowing, amazing movie experience then this is the movie for you!! So many twists and turns that you really need to pay attention!! Is it real or is it a "Dream" that is the question and will be debatable for years! so ill describe the experience. this was my first Imax movie so i dont have much to compare to but it was a fantastic way to break my imax virginity. although i thought the image quality could be clearer and that they would use the entire screen (i was under the impression that some scenes are shot in some "special" imax format, but i wouldnt know lol). anyways this is not to say that it wasnt good, maybe i was just expecting more. The sound, on the other hand, was amazing! crystal clear and perfect.
just a quick review of the movie: great action sequences and intellectually stimulating, i think you will find yourself smiling (as i did) when you begin to comprehend its complexity. definitely one of my fav movies of all time. (the anti gravity fight scene is one for the ages!)

I missed the first 10-15min of the movie but was still able to catch on. I was definitely awake for the 2 1/2hrs of film. Very intertaining and makes you think. Lots of action and cool special effects. A must see and the end leaves you wondering.

Christopher Nolan is the kind of director who likes to put together "smart" movies - from Dark Knight to Memento - he knows how to draw in viewers with a non-linear, though solvable story line that provides for many twists and turns along the way.

WARNING label needs to be on this IMAX movie....wear your noise proof head-cuffs you wear to the gun range...or have them handy. FYI some parts were so loud that the actors lines were canceled out by the explosions...be ready for dizzying perspectives, mega multi-explosions, gunfire, crashing action packed into a multilayered, mind teaser. The visuals on the imax were amazing, but the sound made it stressful---as if you were in it--a real adrenal infusion---over 30?-- take your bp after this one!.

I had my doubts about Inception before seeing it. I'd heard mixed comments about it from my friends and co-workers, so I went into the film with a bit of skepticism. However, even with a pessimistic mood on the movie I was blown away!
The concept was executed very well! The idea of people living in a cage of their own design has been around for ages, but this new angle really drove the idea home for a mass audience.
Pros:
Brilliantly thought out concept, good acting, amazing special effects, lots of twists and changes, beautiful cinematography, and a much needed (semi-)original idea. Some of the special effects were so good that I was even scratching my head wondering "how'd they do that?"
The ending was perfect if you were able to follow everything that was going on throughout the film and truly understood the movie.
Cons:
Drug on in parts: many of the key elements of the film could have been explained in half the time taken.
I figured out the ending of the movie about 1/3rd of the way into the film, so some might consider the overall story a bit predictable. However, there are several twists throughout the story that keep the movie interesting even if you know what's going to happen in the end.
Easy to get lost in the story: there are a lot of details that could be overlooked by grabbing for another piece of popcorn that could cause you to be completely lost through the rest of the story, truly a movie in which you can't blink.
The ending was awful if you couldn't grasp the concept or missed something throughout the story. Again, very easy to get completely thrown off track and be lost in the story.
Bottom line: A+ movie if you pay attention to every detail. You'll know if you really understood the movie by your reaction to the ending: if you got it, you'll think the ending is brilliant and perfect; if you didn't get it, you'll think the ending was awful and a simple fade to black.
It's the first time I've been able to spot people in the theater who got it, and those who didn't. There was a clear-cut 50/50 of wow's and ughs.

This was SUCH a great movie! We went to see it in the IMAX last night, what in incredible movie. I was a fan of Shutter Island, but this was even more mind-blowing. Leo has really become the Robert Dinero of this generation in that he can play ANY role and play it well.

The movie was worth every cent that I paid. It is an experience of drama, action and good acting. The story holds many twists that will cause you to think outside of one's normal belief paradigm. If you like action, complicated stories, and movies about mind games, you must see Inception. I'm not going to lie, it is your destiny to see this movie.
Although it was an awesome movie, I could still find things in it that I thought could have been better. Leonardo DiCaprio's performance was less than stellar, but still pretty good. I always think that his facial expressions and inflections are not natural. Not like they are too much for me to handle, but the job of a critic is to find anything that made the experience a little less than five stars. That was one of them. He did have his moments, like when he got angry at Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but overall...less than stellar. Also, the movie seemed to me to be a little oddly organized. It was an interesting sequence of events, but interesting movies still have to be able to be followed easily. I think I need to watch it again or maybe even three times to be able to get all of it.
That being said, there is so much about this movie that makes it great, which is why I gave it five stars. Every single actor was attention-grabbing. Even the new guy (I think he's new), Tom Hardy, did an excellent job. He was actually my favorite. Marion Cotillard also is a great actress. The ingenuity that went into this movie is something I could never attain. The genius of the plot and...uh it was a great movie. I love complicated stories, and it was definitely suspenseful.
So if you want to be entertained a lot, be made to think about the human mind, be exposed to one of the greatest stories ever, and just spend two and a half hours doing something worth your time, watch Inception.

Inception is the best brains-in-vats movie out there. The bastard child of the Matrix and Dark City, Inception contains three plots each neatly wrapped around the others like a 6 sided mobius strip. First you have the action movie with strong elements of Shadowrun: kicking ass, taking information and running like hell. Then you have a quasi-romantic thing going on between DiCaprio's character, Cobb, and Page's character, Ariadne. Finally, there is the most important plot, that between Cobb and his own demons.
That is all I can say without giving away the plot completely. Suffice it to say, instead, that if you're looking for the best philosophy-action flick to come out in the past ten years you'll just have to get your butt to a theater and see it.
One last thing: go to the IMAX version. Because there's something about having your inner ear cry out for mercy when your watching a zero-g fight sequence that is always wonderful.

My friend and I were dithering over whether or not this movie would be worth the “IMAX Expiriance” including the extra $7 and the inconvenient showing times (6:30, 9:00). It was. Plain and simple. Don’t think twice about which to go to. This is an EPIC film that is worth seeing on the big BIG screen. Give yourself a good “kick” and see it in IMAX.

The Good: Great scenery, great sound (must see in IMAX) solid acting The Bad: way too convoluted, lots of guns and shooting, but apparently only the bad guys have bad aim.

I really loved it. Saw it twice. Ironically, i feel like I was actually a LITTLE more confused the second time through, only because I was paying attention less to the plot and more to the mechanics of what was going on, who was in who's deream, etc. i.e., inconsequential stuff. It was still amazing either way.

I have to say, this is one of the best movies I have seen hands down this year. I wish studios would put in HALF the effort that was put in Inception, maybe I wouldn't mind spending $12 a ticket to sit through a movie. But for anyone questioning on if you should see this movie, you should just see it, it's has a great plot, acting is on point and the action is crazy. O! Did I mention the score?! Hans Zimmer must've been pissed when he made this score, cuz it grabs u'r attention all the time!!!

A remarkable film, as if Christopher Nolan redid "Last Year at Marienbad" as an action film. The film plays with different forms of film narrative; it's playing games with the audience rather than attempting to arrive at profound truths about the nature of dream and reality. At one point in the film, three different films are being intercut, with no one narrative having more authority than the next. The film abounds in literary (Borges especially) and film allusions without ever becoming pretentious. But see it in IMAX -- the film looks and sounds so much better in this format.

I liked the movie. The concept of subreality wasn't new (sometimes it REALLY resembled Matrix), but the performance of it, with all those double/triple/quadruple dreams, was terrific! Immaculate special effects nicely finished the impression. I thought it was too much of Dicaprio in this movie - I had a 'pleasure' to watch his close-up for about 2hrs of the whole 2.5hr film. I mean he's a great actor, but you know... And I am not sure whether it's just me - but I really thought it would be in 3D. That's why I went to IMAX. But it comes in no 3D. Still a great movie - totally worth of your time and money.

The special effects were excellent and the concept of dreams within dreams was unique. However, in terms of story line, action and acting I felt something was missing. It just did not click for me.
